  • its sad to see how head play swirl Universe like that but when i think back again, those guys made millions from that style. All i can say is genius.

  • heads tweakin.

  • somehow i feel that the clown song was made for Shawn Crahan.

  • what kind of guitar have head?? (sorry for my english:D)

  • @dias977 It's an Ibanez K7, custom made.

  • Comment removed

  • around 4:06-4:07 munky looks a little annoyed with head

  • Head owned korn basically!! Korn is still good dont get me wrong but head was the brain behind the guitar lines and all their greatest songs!! David I also miss ray is alright though!!

  • i bet im the only one who knows what "circa" means.... its in the descriptions.

  • @IGotMadAtTheCheat around

  • I used to love Korn... then I saw this video (back in '97 I mean). God these two looked like fucking monkeys beating on sticks compared to everyone else on that tape, and the people who made this video sandwiched this segment in between Petrucci and Vai. Utterly embarrassing for a fan.

  • @LlamaTheory KoRn has never been about techicalities like Petrucci and Vai. You can't expcect that from them. They played their music and gave insite into it. No one plays like koRn, no one created that sound but them. So what are you bitching about?

  • @PresidentChiefer I think you missed my point... I was fucking stoked to watch this video with my bandmates. "Hell yeah! KoRn's on it!" And then we watched it... and realized they're awful guitar players. You can excuse that however you want, but what they play on this video sounds like utter shit, even without comparing it to all the other pros on that tape.

  • @LlamaTheory Ah I hear you. I just disagree.

  • @LlamaTheory They where only playing the non conventional stuff they used to experiment with to make the songs, instead of playing scales or some shit.

  • @LlamaTheory Well actually Head's a pretty good guitar player, only thing is that he was high out of his mind in this vid.

  • Wow, they both sound meth-baked out of their minds in this vid.

  • @ATDFXN yea especially head lol

  • this is so sad to watch. just seeing them in this state

  • @towardstheshadows ....What? hahaha

  • I miss that Korn!! They are shit nowadays.

  • what is the song after the intro song?

  • @poohbearreece Faget from koRn. I'm not misspelling it, thats how they spell it.

  • i wonder if head still has that guitar?... O.o

  • they cant go lower... Fredrik Thordendal laughs now ;p

  • @Pustelnik88 Well this was before Mike Mushok popularized baritone guitars in metal so they're this low on a standard neck and Fredrik is with an 8 string baritone :P

  • @Pustelnik88 A tuning is the lowest possible to still play power chords. korn play power chords Fedrik and meshuggah dont. they just individually pick the 8th string. when they used to play power chords they played 7 string guitars and they actually tuned way higher than Korn. And in my universe A-tuned powerchords will always be fatter and more heavy than any lower note picked in lower tunings.

  • @SKoRnlleX thx I dont know what 8string guitar is and I cant see the diffrence between them. Im total noob and I know one meshuggah song and one korn song. thx for lessonsss mastah. (irony off)

  • Kinda makes me angry to see them with ridiculous high end models when they only play dissonances.

  • @diabeticmonkey well what they do is better than mindly clique shredding its original and fresh stop hating bro it sounds good lol

  • @TheBlackmetalhead It may have been fresh and new...in the nineties. I'm sorry, but saying that this is better than being proficient at your instrument is a cop out.

  • @diabeticmonkey everyone isint meant to be a shredder its all about expressing yourself sure having extended knowledge is good and playing scales and modes and sweep picking to a metronome will ultimately make you a better guitarist overall, but korn's guitarist made a statement by doing what they did and the statement is to go fuck yourself. Where in the fuck would a guitar solo even go in the early Albums Korn, Life is peachy, Follow the Leader.

  • @TheBlackmetalhead I just believe that an instrument must be a reflection of one's skill. If you're not playing fast, why use a guitar designed for it. My logic may sound weird, but that's my opinion.

  • @diabeticmonkey well i totaly disagree dude your close minded and its sad how you think playing fast is the most important thing no matter what you say Munkey and Head have skills they play live very well even while head banging like maniacs.

  • @TheBlackmetalhead And you have lost this battle. I never said anything about playing fast being everything. I said being proficient is the point. Yes, that means being able to play fast, but everything in between, too. If anyone is close minded, it's you my friend, saying that shredding is mindless. Go listen to some Jason Becker and call me in the morning sweetheart.

  • @diabeticmonkey explain how they are not proficient

  • @TheBlackmetalhead Because, and this is entirely subjective, they can't keep my attention or impress me. I've not been touched by their music. I'm done here.

  • @diabeticmonkey wow so you were just here to complain about a band you dont like

  • @diabeticmonkey Then why the fuck did you come here to give your input if you are not touched by their music? I would have thought you wouldn't have wasted your time with it.

  • @diabeticmonkey Its original, so fuck it!

  • Sick ass riff munky plays at 4:46 and how head follows along!

And does anyone know what type of Ibanez Munky is using in this video?

I would like to check it out!

  • @CreeperCreature2 I believe its a Ibanez S7320 but now its has 2 humbuckers in it and it only comes in black

  • Munky is thinking wtf is head doing

  • I miss Head so much.

  • What's the guitar Munky's using during the interview? It looks like an Ibanez S, but with single coils...?

  • @sanctim0nia its a custom model

  • munky is just looking at head thinking.....wtf are you doing you??

  • Faget! :D

  • head's guitar's awesome!!! an Ibanez universe 77mc !!!!!

  • Munky and Kirk Hammett have the same voice.......

  • @ovlada Kirk has an even gayer voice though

  • @ovlada Yah, but Kirk has a more sissy one.

  • @ovlada They look alike now that munky is nearly 40.

  • can't go lower then a? tried a thicker string maybe... tards...

  • @MetalikaKriffe95 7 strings were fairly new back then, they may not have had good enough pickups to go lower.

  • 4:05... munky's like "what the fuck?"

  • A tuning. If you have a seventh string it is normally tuned to B, which creates an easy shape for power chords. You therefore end up with a tuning of B E A D G B E. However, they tuned it down a whole-step to end with A D G C F A D.

  • What tuning did munkey say that he put his guitar?

  • @masjt D standard

  • 4:07 he's thinking 'what's wrong with this guy?'

  • head's high.

  • @petewat98 not anymore ..praise God!!!

  • Rigth

  • @petewat98 i think they both are

  • @petewat98 i think they both are high... lol

  • @petewat98

    High on Jesus!

  • @petewat98 for sure

  • the difference between Korn and creamed korn.......??????

  • What song is playing at 3:10?

  • @SavageCrnbread its WICKED. on the Life is Peachy album.

  • Head is so freakin good...

  • Head doesnt wanna talk he just like f*ck off

  • what are those green pickups called? and how much they cost?

  • @kornneidermeyersmind theyre called dimarzio blaze pickups. bridge pup is a blaze bridge. middle is a blaze middle and the neck is a blaze middle i think

  • that guy playing th UV is so blazed

  • I'll also say to Hendrix that they're all phenomenal musicians who focus their talent more on writing songs than running scales. They can all play the shit out of their instruments, but honestly, solos and shit don't fit what they do. It'd be like The Doors with an actual bassist, it just doesn't work.

  • I honestly don't even remember what the fuck I said. Lol. Look up shit from Head's days in LAPD though, you'll see what he's capable of. But he got to be more about experimenting with tone and effects than soloing when he got into Korn. Bottom line though, those guys were meant to play together, they compliment each other's sound.

  • these guys are mad, they taught me how to be heavy, but melodic at the same time, and for me, thats everything, especially with guitar, but see i listen to deftones, korn, system of a down, and all those bands, and when i combine everything ive learnt from all of them, well, you will just have to find out wont you :)

  • i play guitar myself, and playing fast and technical is easier then it looks, its not hard, i enjoy playing korn because when i do covers of the music i feel like the riffs are speaking through the instrument because the guitar tuning is dropped so low, it just feels good, but when i play technical its just to quick you dont get to enjoy the music and emotion itself, you concerntrate to much on playing the technical notes you forgot what the songs all about, just my opinion, im sure many agree.

  • Well I listen to all types of music. Shredding or slower metal doesn't matter to me. I just care about the way the song fits together like a puzzle. As long as it fits, it works. Yeah, Korn might not be technical or had some training (Although Head can shred, saw it once in a video), they can make a song creative and original. Technically that's what a musician goes for: creativity and originality. Personally I'd rather play heavy, slow emotional music than fast music, and I'm learning to shred.

  • this happend when u give guitars to two shithead tweakers

  • Guitarists on speed...

  • whats the song at the start

  • check my interview with Head about Korn & songwriting /watch?v=N9cIog-e8cQ

  • volta para o KoRn Head =/

  • Why doesn't Ibanez make seven strings like that anymore?....do they even make seven strings anymore?

  • @doomsdaytelemarketer yea, they do

  • where are they live when jon is in those green pants?

  • munky looks like he wants to kill head at 4:07

  • It's a shame Head left man. Him and Munky were great together.

  • @SatanistSin tis a shame indeed lol. head was great dude

  • To this day, I still don't get why they didn't session them for a recording when they weren't flying with the kites...

  • se nota que algunos de estos musicos no habian estudiado mucha musica hasta ese entonces . pero esa musica no necesita mucha preparacion es cuestion de caracter

  • Head's High As!

  • head is on it limit :D stoned limit

  • idolos

  • hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigggggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • (everything that sounds good is ok) munky is a fuckin moron

  • Man if they were not so famous this video would look way more ridiculous than it does now.

  • @naurispunk hahahahaha thats for sure

  • Definitely they were high.

  • at 4:07 munky just gave head this pissed off look...lol

  • Have you noticed how munky does something weird with his pinky when he's picking? It's fine when he's doin chords, but he bends his pinky to such a weird degree when he picks

  • @TheGhettoFineLaxer it's because when he was younger, the chain of his motorcycle or bike came off and cut a part of his pinky, after sowing it back as a rehabilitation he was told by his doctor to playing guitar and thats how he started playing guitar.

  • @TheGhettoFineLaxer yeah i do that aswell, it just feels good for some reason, it looks retarded but it feels stronger like you can hit the strings with more attack

  • Only if someone would make a rOck only youtube cause Im so sick of related videos being Justin Beiber ...

  • 3:15 never seen a live version of wicked, now that's wikid!!

  • love korn there well stoned on this interview, they have a lot of talent to all you haters (FUCK YOU) plus they have made a lot of money thats all they wanted to do, and the songs they enjoy and make do not consist of thrash metal or ultra fast solos, all the songs are slow and heavy.

  • lol at 4:05 munky gave head a really dirty look

  • Comment removed

  • Man, head was really high at this video..

  • Wasted

  • is it just me or these guys really this blazed out of their fucking minds? lol

  • So, basically you wanted to play like Vai, but you were shit. About right

  • @fantasyh hey i saw he vid for the ibanez universe 20th aniversay reissue and vai praised this guys for theyre work with the 7

  • Fuck I really want a seven string like theirs, not only so I can learn Korn songs properly but because it's practically a new instrument with an extra string so it would be awesome to experiment XD

  • @MegaFluffyPlatypus Dude, if you are, get an Ibanez 7. Best quality out there. On of my favorite models is the rg7321, it gets alot of shit though. IT's the best 7 you can get for the price. It's one of the best 7's ever actually.

  • @lamascosk8r dean vandetta 7 string

  • This is still my favorite video on youtube.

  • They have to be fucked up

  • shit makes me want a 7 string and a solid state amp for crunchy distortion

  • lol it looks like they arent even playing lol. it looks like an over dub

  • what was brian sining at 7:01 ?

  • @holly4joey

    lowrider

  • @BigboobsowN thanks :)

  • @holly4joey

"All my friends, drive a lowrider"

  • @Loopa94 I know now..thanks anyway

  • whats the song on 2:03

  • @bassman499

    Shoots and ladders

  • ouch. tune those guitars!

  • Man they where stoned

  • what was the opening track man

    sick riff

  • @69biatchslap FAGET from their first album...!

  • Yes people. they WERE on drugs now that we've gotten past an obvious fact we can notice JD's chest hair and happy trail at 2:11.

  • @drunkinpainter666 Thats the sound that gives KoRn its sound dude. if you don't like how they play, then don't listen to them.

  • seems weird that it has k5 in the corner when their gutiars were the k7's

  • Comment removed

  • You want to hear a seven string used properly check out Nevermore

  • @espltd12 accept that korn used them first. loomis is super fucking good and a million times better than me but 7 strings are for more than just sweeps and power chords

  • @espltd12 theyre not good, that stuffs easy, i play guitar myself, all hes doing is shredding random notes over the 12th fret, thats so fucking easy, and its not the matter of a 7 string being used properly... these guys took the guitar in the exact opposite direction of this guy, and did it first, so suck me bitch

  • @TonezzCSS Really its easy? Please put a video of yourself up playing the sweeps to Psalm of Lydia and I will concede that it is easy you have until midnight Eastern time and if you don't you must concede that it is hard to play like Loomis and easy to play like Korn. Oh and I play guitar too asshole so I know that this shit that Korn does is easy.

  • @espltd12 Out of all honesty, i cbf making a video just for you guys, and anyway i never said korn wasnt easy, there stuff is easy as shit, its just powerchords, but its fun to play in my opinion, and as for that nevermore shit, i probably am going a little far on the emphasise of FUCKING easy, cause i picked up my guitar, and played some shit like that and it wasnt easy, its just OUT OF THIS WORLD hard, and i might learn that song you told me to learn tbh.

  • @TonezzCSS Ok glad you came to your senses just think or learn about what you're talking about before posting.

  • WES BORLAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Just watch them jammin' out to Blind. You know they're hearin' their friends blastin' with them. God, it's beautiful. Just so beautiful.

  • @drunkinpainter666 Your a muddy chord

  • @drunkinpainter666 No it wasn't the tune they were using. It's all that meth they were smoking. I play in A and can make some really nice sounding music.

  • whats the song at 3:36...Ahhhhhh

  • @emgdave blind

  • @emgdave thats "BLIND"

  • i think korn owes alot to godflesh

  • i love korns music, but talented musicians they are not.

  • @TheConnord12 I disagree. Fieldy is an amazing bass player

  • @DesecratingReptile all of them have talent...they all have the ability to make complex music but chose not to..but that's what makes korn korn...

  • I really love korn...but i dont get this, they use a 7 string guitar and the stuff they play mostly involve only the last 3 strings, i mean, you could do that on a downtuned 6 string as well.

  • @ElvisBluntman777 you'll find on songs like (all korn songs) - ball tongue, good god, its on, with the help of a 7th string, they reached higher notes, not possible on a 6 string, and 7 strings have much more distorted pickups

  • @TonezzCSS the first 3 frets 3 strings, the last string last fret...and a hand that moves is all you need to play korn songs

  • I don't understand why they dont play 8-strings now if they like to go as deep as possible.

  • @eliten0Ob Because if you play an 8-string the way they do, it will be too thick and muddy and it wont sound good. 7-strings are basically as heavy as you can get without getting too muddy.

  • is head stoned

  • I know most people this it's just noise, but there hasn't been many bands that have been as original as korn in a fucking long time. Most "heavy" bands at the moment are guys who chug at the dropped open strings, get the drummer to play a half time beat, and call that part of the song "the breakdown", even though it lasts for 90% of the song.

  • @babywithacrowbar You just described half the metal bands out there. A little bit of Korn too, though.

  • Dude... how many times does he say with a really coked looking expression, "It just gives it more, you know, heavier sound"

  • Wes Borland = Legend

  • @gloryofwar82 yeah you prolly rather listen to some new kids on the block or some vanilla ice or somethin huh

  • @gloryofwar82 Don't lie!
