@CMPUNKwweCHAMP What does it matter if it dies sooner than later? The real problem here is that they gave the tegu a rat that was too large to handle. My tegu gets the occasional small live rat, but she is good about killing her prey instantly. It is sad when you see tegu vids where the tegu doesn't have the right instincts or whatever and doesn't kill the mouse, it just eats it alive. I have a video up of my tegu eating a f/t mouse and even then she tried so hard to kill it guts flew everywhere
You've probably learned since then about recording, but next time (if you haven't already figured it out), hold the camera against something steady, like a wall or a chair back or something. Nice creature, yeah the rat was a bit larger than it should've been, but you've probably figured that out too, by now. :-)
Nice Tegu, Although the mouse you're feeding it is a bit too big. Feed it something that is the same size as the distance between the animals eyes. That way it won't appear to be struggling to swallow. If its not enough to satisfy then just feed it another. Not a dig, just a bit of advice..
That mouse was Way too big. Tegu's are scavengers their not primarily Hunters. Your lucky that it got a grasp on its neck. and not its body. Or else youd have been explaining why it is that your tegu is missing an eye. Be a little more careful.
@pixieleexx its not choking. If you smoke inside your house lizards start to weeze which is what he was doing. why its best to have lizards in a seperate room.
His colors on his head are beautiful. Very nice tegu. I think it's healthier to feed live even though I don't all the time. Once a month or so. But that tegu needs a smaller mouse.
