  • Stunning.

  • Does any one else hear a third in the final chord? Or is that just me?

  • @francis51534 definitely there

  • Wow.. that harmonies are fantastic!

  • Hear my prayer oh Lord

    Hear my cry dear Lord

  • which choir is this record from? its awesome

  • 1:48 to 1:52 makes me feel all warm. Reminds me of a few Beatles progressions. Just beautiful.

  • The harmony between 0:55 and 1:03 could melt a mountain.

  • Wow. This video easily has the best harmony that I've ever heard.

  • This is just indescribably good, the harmonies are so deliciously complex it's impossible to completely appreciate this work without listening to it over and over again. Which I shall happily do

  • I think in this case, it's even less harmonious than late-romantic, however because of the unique technique that is used by the perioud, it works well with the dynamic.

  • Divine. This is recommended for those that liked the Purcell... youtube.com/watch?v=nZeipQOHghs

  • The harmony at 1:00 is absolutely amazing. The other qualities of the song are top notch. Purcell has to be one of the greatest choral composers ever.

  • Absolutely beautiful... Is there anything better than this???

  • @jrankey, low tech im afraid. There are probably better ways, but i just scanned in the images and then used windows movie maker to put it together. You're right about choir training. Great idea.

  • Thank you for posting this. A technical question; What techniques/software do you use to create the score and music moving together? I'm a choir teacher and think it would be a great way for my kids to learn their music.

  • @jrankney you can use Finale. if you go to finale.com, there are different softwares (both simple and complex) that you can purchase.

  • My choir director called this piece sexy. He is correct. Purcell is my new favorite composer.

  • billions of despaired prayers all mend into one harmonic cry

  • best piece ever written!

  • This is among my favorite choral pieces, and Oxford deliverd with heavenly beauty. The one thing that is prime, other than the marvelous intonation, modulations and dissonance ,is the TEMPO. Many choirs that I have heard sing this piece sing it TOO FAST, including Clare College. If the tempo is marked too high, the beauty of the peice is compromised; you can't rush such richness. Great job Navdon on this selection!!!

  • @izzybaggs A wonderfull interpretation, reminds me of Gregorian singing in a way. Still Clare college makes it rock and roll...

  • The smoke of the incense, together with the prayers of the saints, went up before God from the angel's hand.

  • Very interestimg the changing major to minor to major in the chords in all piece.

  • The Altos are amazing... it's almost tenor range... OMG

  • @afertyu That is soprano 2 you. Analize the music first and then judge. It is SSAATTBB.

  • there is a third in the singing of the final chord, but in the notes it's just open 5th...what up with that:)

  • @realias The organist has realised the final chord as I in C minor. The singers have accurately sung the written parts. You can hear the alto drop from the Eb to the C.

  • @realias Yes, good perception.

  • This is divine....still think I prefer the Clare college version though.

The intensity is far greater here though!!

  • @1svlad their rubbish

  • @greenmoss123 i take that bak cause i love this peice now we sang it a couple of days ago:) very good singing well done

  • @greenmoss123 ah ha....so you need to sing it first before being able to make a fair judgement? Singing is not all about xfactor...singing with a microphone...it's bloody hard work.

  • Only thing lacking here are the gorgeous singers from Clare College, sooo sexy :)

  • Thanks Navdon! Slower and without basso continuo. The dissonants come through even more spinechilling. Tnanks for sharing.

You may enjoy Stabat Mater from Sances. Also recommended is Ad Nos from Lizt on organ.

    enjoy
