This was the best concert I have ever attended! SRV, BB King, Albert King @ Red Rocks! with my brother (now deceased) and sister-in-law - doesn't seem possible that it was so long ago. Thank you for posting claptonhendrix1 - wonderful memories of a wonderous night!
there are guitar heroes who maybe are supposed to be even better, technically speaking, but this man....he makes that guitar sing. This is a wonderful piece of art.
check out a band called the tom hollister trio or th3...they have a 19 year old guitarist..........chris buck.......he is fucking awesome...like a young srv
almost 6 minutes into the song i got goosebumps like i never had in my life. sitting here in a dark room, i think i just have the best 9 minutes of experience out of anyone in the world at this moment.
Long ago this version of Littlle Wing by my Idol SRV inspired me to learn all his songs on my electric. This is the BEST version of Little Wing he's ever done. Glad it finally appeared on Youtube. Well done on the channel admins part =D
Wow this has to be way better IMO than the recorded version, oh man can you feel him juicing , and ooozzing soul,... my goodness Jimi would have done some amazing music with this guy but i guess only one good thing at a time...
Awesome!! Thanks 4 posting. I was at this show with my bro at age 15 (my first big concert). Blues festival w/ BB King on 6-19-85 @ the most beautiful outdoor concert venue in the US. Can't even begin to describe how incredible an experience it was. Good times....
@slama32 Oh Ya! I also saw him in 1988 at an outdoor show in Manchester N.H. with Joe Cocker. It frikin blew me away. Big loss to music. R.I.P. S.R.V.
Musically, my favorite song. And by far my favorite rendition.
I love the point near 6:18 where he plays one note for eight solid measures, wrenching every bit of passion and emotion he can out of it. My jaw literally dropped the first time I heard it.
Speaking of B.B. King, I met his son. Also, my nephew used to work at Winstar Casino on the Oklahoma border, and he gave him a ride back to his hotel in the Van. I wish i would have been with him. My nephew didn't realize what a legend he was in the van with. lol...R.I.P. Stevie
OMG! Wow that Organ really makes this song sound so different but in a good way!! VERY GOOD!!! It's so peaceful. This is definitely in my top 5 favorite versions of Little Wing
I saw Muddy Waters, Kenny Wayne Shepard, Tommy Shannon, Chris Layton and all the blues legends (minus kenny wayne) at a jimi hendrix tribute. Good show. I just wish stevie could be there.....If there's one person I could talk to for 5 minutes to it'd be Stevie.
man stevie had so much soul...... so much energy and all he wanted to do was give it to all the people around him by the music he played. where has all the good music gone?
Yes I saw B.B. earlier this year and he was amazing. There are some good blues out there now. Back Door Slam and Joe Bonamassa are the best IMO. In fact, Joe was brought up by B.B.
Just when you start to think Stevie had exhausted every nuance out of all the amazing songs he played over and over again its like...BAM, heres a different interpretation all together. God Bless, Stevie. My hero.
Reminds me of Eddie Grey (eddiegrey-check him out) who although is a great guitar player gasps his way painfully through the tunes destroying every nuance of soul and feeling and replacing them with screeching, off-key, barking that renders the song unlistenable.
I was at this show at Red Rocks, me and my father; I was just a little kid then who loved the blues, If I can remember, Albert King, BB King, Bobby Bland and Bonnie Raite. were on the ticket. You brought back some memories; It was a great show, I still have the ticket stub to this day in my scrap book and the blues fest concert t-shirt. Thanks for posting this.
Not only did his guitar put a smile on your face, but it's when he smiled, you felt great about it. A shame he left soo soon. I think about him everyday.
Oh I get some bootleg CD's from a family friend. I have another vide with rare unplugged audio that is as far as I know the first acoustic recording of Stevie's.
