I am from Youngstown and went there often as a kid and it was a fantastic little park! Mill Creek Park is right next to Idora and is beautiful. I was lucky to have grown up there! So sad its gone.
@marshalljimduncan Actually No, The entire Park was buldozed a few years ago, there is almost NO residue of what used to be there...The Fist 2 minutes of this made my tear up, I rode the wildcat 100 times and even rode last in 1983, then watched in HORROR in 1984 as the Main turn Burned. To think 1-1.5 Million dollars would have repaired it (at the time). No it's gone forever..
nice video of that old SPOOKY abandoned park. one time i went into an old abandoned drive in theater in methuen massachusetts U.S.A. and found all kinds of cool stuff including an old safe with lots of something still inside. didnt get in but did come home with all the amazing lenses from the old projectors. they look like something from a mad scientists lab. question: do you know of any vids here on youtube where someone finds electricity on one of the rides and attempts to turn it on??
My step Dad's band POOBAH played at Idora Park several times in the 70's. He said it used to be a fun place, back then, with huge crowds. POOBAH recorded 2 songs live for their Rock Collection CD at Idora Park.
My girlfriend and I went in there twice. There's nothing left now and a church owns it not doing anything with it. The one time we went in there like this we almost got caught, but cheesed it out of there undetected.
Everyone I know who's been to the old park in years past after it closed knew a different hole in the fence to get in. No wonder some idiots were able to burn it down piece by piece over the years. I took a walk through Idora the day after Christmas last week and finally decided to get a big chunk of the Wildcat that was on the ground. Hell, I don't even know what I could possibly do with it. Funny how old memories can come down to a chunk of rotten wood with yellow paint on it. Cool video.
Nothing left at all some old tires people dumped. You can see old peices of yellow wood laying around that's about it

Chippewa lake is older. Why abandon such places when so many people had lifelong memories?

man these abandoned parks could be good for the film business if they had to shoot a horror or action movie or tv show.
