At the moment the Bugatti Veyron SuperSport has the official record, but Bugatti confirmed that the SuperSport was the climax (the final Veyron), whereas SSC are still working on a 2nd that may be capable of speeds of 270+. In the next year or so, the SSC may be the record holder.

actually that trans am did 308 mph.but the avg was 303 or 301,it ran consistently every day over 300.with no tune up and is street drivable.its at kuek komponents on the net...AND it did it 12 years ago.

the ssc needs a stiffer front end. it was rolling past level in the road coarse pictures but the Veyron i can see being about to run very well on a road coarse. Can anyone say bulldozer? all wheel drive 4000+ pound machine = massive understeer probably.

bugatti keeps turning down the side but side challenge. yes the bugatti has the tops speed. the aero hit its top speed in 2 miles took the bugatti nearly 4 miles to do it.

@mattheep12 OK , you are talking about quality ! So if this is the way it goes the Koenigsegg Agera is better than Veyron not as speed or acceleration but about that quality and genius design of everything about Agera it has 4.7L V8 Engine and its almost near the Veyron W16 8.3L !

@noni15081998 They wanna made a new Bugatti for 2014 the Galibier who had hybrid W16.4 engine and a top speed of 400 + km/h with 4 passengers !
So that beat the SSC for ultimate comfort and if the SSC made a faster car bugatti can still made an even faster car with ameliorated W16 so that will beat again the SSC and still last longer
Because the V8 will need to handle more power
I think Bugatti can made easily 1400 HP engine or more ;D

@fordfan197 Ultimate Aero still owns the Veyron. Sure, Bugattis are great, but when you think about it, the Super Sport is hardly worth it.
Super Sport: 2-2.3 million
Ultimate Aero: 654,400
The veyron is only .2 secs/10mph faster but costs 1.6 million more? When you get down to it, you're paying for the name, nothing more.
If SSC really tried (which they probably are as we speak) they could probably put out a car that could smoke a super sport, for under 1 million.

maybe its fast but the design didnt take long to make, they dont have a 100 year background as cardesigners like bugatti have, lets say they have used one year on the drawing board, it lacks any kind of class, actually i have heard many comment on this as a random design, that means not very original..and...the last gear is slow so topspeed often means nothing, u wont be doing 421 on a track mostly u do under 300 on a track anyway, and this do badly on a track.

@HD13POWER Its not as good because the SSC has speed, thats it. Veyron has pure class,eligance,leather,comfort,titanium billet interior,custom engine block capable of 3000hp,3peice alu rigid chassis. 1000% a better car. Speed doesnt make a car better, but saying that, the Veyron SS is now faster :)

@mattheep12 OK , you are talking about quality ! So if this is the way it goes the Koenigsegg Agera is better than Veyron not as speed or acceleration but about that quality and genius design of everything about Agera it has 4.7L V8 Engine and its almost near the Veyron W16 8.3L !
What I mean that W16 is not a genius solution .

Dont get me wrong, I'm an F1 racing fanatic. Explain why Saudi is just now starting to mod SUVs and Trucks with the same motors US dragsters use and are racing up dunes in a straight line. everyone wants to know how fast there car is compared to another in a straight line. Even BMW or w/e other car you think is better than Americas want to know if their car is faster in a straight line, 0-60 times, and reaction times. So racing doesnt have to be OH I CAN TAKE A CORNER FASTER THAN YOU! bc once you hit a straight your done.

@deadmusic5 well its all about what preferance people like racing...some say f1 is like slot car racing... other say speed and adrenaline ( nascar ) but others thing cars should turn both left and right in a race :P ...some belive that a race is getting from point A to point B asap is racing.
i love watching racing....but after a few repedative laps like F1 or nascar etc...i get board... thats why i like watching "weekend warrior style" drag racing.
