nice trucks in the USA judging by this clip. im from new zealand and have driven trucks here and oz. but i must say that the trailers in the US are missing a few axles.
They have the same sized cabin, Euro cabins are not wider. You obviously need to read up a little more. American trucks have up to 810 Hp CAT, and Cummins engines for oversized loads, and use TANDEM, and TRIDEM axels for maximum towing, and weight capacity. Why do you think Aussie road trains use American trucks?
Besides Scania 730's torque isn't available till some 14 gears down.
@SecularTechnology But what i have read and what i know is that Scania 730HP the strongest truck in this moment. 730HP strongest production engine! I believe what you mean Cat 810HP is probably a manipulate engine.
All in all American trucks are very good, no question, but somehow 'just' for American conditions, or Australian ones. US trucks would have problems in many parts of Europe, like in the Norwegian Mountains in winter, or old cities like for example in Germany, Italy or France with narrow streets.
European trucks can be found (ouside Europe) in many Asian countries, southern America, New Zealand, and also some in Australia or the US (like Volvo)
@EnjoyFirefighting european trucks get just as big as american trucks and good american and canadian truckdrivers can navigate mountains and extreme cold in american trucks and the only advantige they have in city streets are the cab over engine trucks and american truck companies make those too
@EnjoyFirefighting this is very true only thing is the volvo we get is not the same one over in europe we get one thats even to the size of a freightliner fld 120
I believe Volvo trucks is an independent company, Volvo autocar is owned by Ford indeed. Daf trucks is owned by Paccar, which means that Kenworth and Peterbilt are available with Daf MX engine, so in that case, yes it's complex.
With all respect, but be serious...the European trucks have a bigger cabin, save more fuel, and more powerful then American trucks...pease!!! It's not a shame...it is a fact!
@crocket1971 that's true. If American or European trucks are nicer, is different for everyone. But also in safety European trucks are better, safety for the truck-driver as well as other traffic.
The only reason any trucker would use a cabover for long hauls is evil government regulations like in Europe. They are uncomfortable, cramped, unsafe not to mention ugly. Pete 379 all the way for me!
379 and 389 ....For me is peterbilt all the way...But talking about cabovers....you just nailed.. lol.... the best part is if you do a local job...climbing in and out of those match boxes auauahaha
not realy they get about the same MPG and american trucks have more interior room and are just as (maby more) luxurious. sefety i dont know so i'm not talking about that
American trucks can pull more weight and European trucks have better handeling so i'd say American trucks are best in the USA and European trucks are best in the EU but i prefer the american looks
Hey woodsy357, when are roads here in the UK or anywhere else in europe are built long and straight with no tight turns like yours in Australia we will start using road trains
im fairly sure that clevelands freightlins mack munchers are aussie trucks! the only decent bangers there are aussie trucks, when u yank or european trucks start pullin 5 trailers let me know :)
Feightliner Trucks are now over 75% built in Mexico. Check out the youtube video Freightliner Saltillo and the part they leave out is that for this plant to open it cost over 2000 Americans their jobs, i know i am one of them.
not only freightliner is opening more jobs in mexico we also have a kw factory at mexicali and they are building a western star factory at a town near mexico city.... thats not also afecting us but also mexico couse it means mexico is not creating anything like dine in the 70s and 80s anyway sorry couse quality standars are higher in the us
trucks buit america but that dowsen't mean that they are the best ... check out IVECO, SCANIA, MAN, MECEDES, CATEPILLAR, VOLVO, TATRA, GAZ... yes, american trucks are beautiful...but that doesen't mean that they are the best :)...
Sorry to say this but canadian trucks are the best because we can pull 2 3 4 5 axle trailers and carry up to 100 thousand pounds. Usa trucks carry 45 thousand on a 2 axle van trailer
european are the best if you say that american are the best you suck.who leaves 3 feet of the trailer in the air when you attach a pete to a dryvan
and for right now european trucks are the smoothiest the most powerful and the best looking you cant tell me that the pete 379 looks better than a scania r620. and compare the trailers the trailers in the u.s. are just two wheels on a box (dryvan) and compare that to a dryvan in europe with the three axels for mee the europen trucks remain the best
are you dumb you cannot detach a european trailer to a american truck because european trucks are made for one axel trucks dumbass sucker !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ivo98- You are a fuck-tard. You think Euro trucks are better because of the trailers? All dry vans are fucking boxes, world wide. As for axles, who gives a shit. Average Euro trailer: 3 axles and 6 tires while US trailers have 2 axles and 8 tires. Weight limits US trucks generally to 80,000 pounds but in Canada it is 100,000 or 120,000 lbs, so many Canadian trailers have 3 axles but look IDENTICAL to US trailers, still big fucking boxes. It took the US to make a good Volvo, VT 800 series.
actually the average dryvan has 8 wheels. european trucking is better because you have one more axle on the trailer???? and i can tell you a 379 looks better than that ugly cabover. looks like you cant handle a longnose.
European trucks have more technique are more advanced. More fuell economic.
More workingspace because of the whole cabin beïng wider ... and American trucks (many the older ones) have a narrow workingspace because of how the cab is desigend.

Daffan2007 2 years ago
European versus American trucks.
Who are better ... you simply cannot say.
Europe drive cabovers because of the maximum length of the entire vehicle.
So Tractor AND trailer cannot be longer dan 16m50.
American trucks = Tractors have more living space for the driver that is true.
And VERY VERY VERY nice!!!

JTyler52 3 years ago
American Trucks Look better, with the hood and such and maybe like a "real" truck.
But they are heavier, bigger, take more space (duh..) And they drink WAY more fuel then a european truck.
European trucks are superior in technology, fuel effiecency, everything.
When you need to repair something, you just tilt it over.
In an american truck you have a bonnet, and dont get to see as much, as in a euro-truck. Which makes it easier to repar a euro-truck.
Conclusion: European trucks, best!!
