every mini is different. some bite some dont. some are mean and bratty, some are the sweetest things ever. it's not the breed, it's the individual horse. dont judge a whole breed based on the characteristics of one horse.

yes they are cute :). I dont understand Y U WLD BREED SMTHING SO SMALL. and no they are not "sweeter" or they dont bite. Minis tend to be bratty and bite and kick more than horses. (shetlands more tgh). BUT I DO LOVEM AND ALSO if u want a mini horse get one from an acution or one that needs a home there of HUNDEREDS of them at auctoins weekly. (i mean beautiul,wellbred,sometimes pregnant) theres no need to "breed any horse".

@sloutsource not true. any horse or pony could bite at any time. if they were irritated or tired, for example. horses bite and kick in the wild where there are no humans. Humans arent always the reason they bite or kick.

@shetlandshire we arent talking about horses in the wild here are we. As a breeder, I have noticed the only ponies that tend to bite or kick are the ones not handled correctly. I have yet to be kicked or bitten by a pony in 36 years of handling them on a daily basis.

lol, I used to have 2 gelding twin bothers, paints, but one looked like a cow and one only had one white spot! But any way their names were mickey and topper and they were green broke and they were only very young maybe like early 2... but Mickey felt threatened and bit my brother in the face.. :( and his face swelled up like a balloon

To me there more like dogs, besides the fact they act a little bit more like prey the predator compared to a dog. The give all the love they got, make you laugh, and just like dogs as you said only about 1% of the population can ride them. Also if you're vegetarian, then its all the better cuz horses don't eat meat like dogs do. yes they do poop bigger and eat more, but you never have to cut your lawn again! and look Fertalizer!!!

we drive ours. They are a blast. We enter parades, go on picnic drives, or just drive around the neighborhood. One of my minis that I sold is now competing in combined driving events. He does driven dressage, marathon, and cones. There's a lot you can do with a mini and they cost a lot less than a big horse.

Id recommend driving or in hand jumping for adults, small children can ride them depending on how much weight the mini can handle on their back....

Mini's are cheaper than cell phones! They are both cheaper to buy and cheaper to keep. Cells cost heaps to use

if ur horses kick and bite it means u let them get away with it. If you train them from a foal they'll never kick or bite. iv owned five minis and I've never had a problem with biting or kicking from foals, mares, stallions, yearlings, etc. They have to respect you - they're no different to big horses or ponies!

Actually I think that WAS a pony in the commercial. If you've ever had one you'll know that with few exceptions ponies are mean, ornery little creatures, unlike mini horses.

I have two and I live in the French Quarter of New Orleans. Rowdy & Autumn go out almost every afternoon and people flock to them. They are perfectly behaved and they've never bitten anyone.

I don't think they meant to make fun of miniature horses... I think they were making fun of how many young teenagers asked for a pony as a child, but maybe... now they want a cellphone. ;) (personally, I wouldn't trade MY horse for a cellphone, no matter how spiffy cool it was. hrmf.
