...but seriously, my Shimano Ultegra 6700 freehub may not be the best, but good enough, but it least it's doesn't sound like a mob of killer bees or like someone dragging an empty beer can against a chain link fence. In fact, it's virtually silent. At least compared to these!
Thank you for putting this video together. It's a big help when choosing a rear hub...and now I know that I don't want a mob of angry bees chasing me around (Chris King).
I'm curious and puzzled: so, many lycra riders want the sound of playing cards in their spokes? All that ratchet noise, it strikes me inefficient and mechanically poor. But some people love the noise? Why?
@mekore, I'm happy if you are happy. We all know that the goal of life is to be happy, fully secure and make harmless moto sounds, definitely. Cheers......brrrrrrzzzzzz
chris king is just ridiculous. I don't give a fuck if it has 10,000 pawls, it shouldn't be that loud. that being said, if I had the money my rear wheel would sound like a meat grinder too :)
great video, i only wish i had seen this video yesterday. i just bought the alchemy hub set. you should carry your products in tucson, ie fairwheel bikes..

I've heard people describe Chris King hubs as having an "angry bee" sound to them. Now I know what they're talking about. Geez

@TheBloyce LOL NO
They're overpriced, pretty bits of metal with somebody else's name on them.

In comparison with these boutique hubs, the stock x700 Shimano ones are almost silent.

Thank you for this video. It gives a great comparison among the various hubs. Even some of the other manufacturers don't have such videos.
