  • Well I can't say I like this song but I have to listen to it for an English assignment...

Worst 5 minutes of the task.

  • @SMNsquid Do me a favour and listen to it again at 25 please ??

  • @MsSusanmary Why? I said I don't like it, although I agree the story behind it is fair. But it has nothing to do with me and I simply just don't like it.

  • howdydoo is right. And what is sad is that you don't need talent anymore to make it.

  • When I was 17 I used to listened to it if I needed to cry...works every time...

  • I've always loved this song. Love, love, love Janis Ian! Have this album and know every word of every song by heart! This & Lullaby are my 2 favs!

  • When music and people with talents are real, without synthesizers and music enhancers !! truly a talent with mega superbly good voice that accentuates feel and emotions...... where have all that gone to in our current time ???

  • Janis is so awesome and a sweet person. I love her songs! :)

  • a true talent....someoene who with only a guitar can kill it on the spot and even sound better than the record version. This woman is a mega talent

  • wow wow Janis is so great..

  • hardlines4, you are spot on. When music was reeealllllllllllllllllll stuff.

    KC

  • A time when we had REAL music!!!

  • Yes, agree, this is from the hearth

  • such amoving song!

  • Madonna and Britney..take notes..this a truly talented person......get it????

  • @howdydoo2007 The writing is brilliant and the music is not lagging behind....soulful performance.

  • @howdydoo2007 maybe dylan's equal?

  • @howdydoo2007 maybe i should clarify--i hastily responded last time. i mean i consider janis ian is bob dylan's equal.

  • I love you Janis. But, one thing. I'll never understand why you wrote this song. You are so truly beautiful, and sexy! I had such a crush on you when I was in high school. I would play this song over, and over again- relating to every single line. I was truly ugly, and not popular. Dean from Denver, Colorado.

  • For all Janis fans, please listen to "Water Colors" on here. Timeless ...

  • a mature Janis receives comments of childhood; another view: the servitude we render blindly to undeserving arrogance at any age.

  • That song is a true classic. It speaks to every kid that felt awkward and out of place.

  • Very nice song. Going to see her this summer.I know she has aged, but her voice is still intact.

  • i am also a guy who could feel this song the girls always seeked the hottest looking guys i could not even get a girl to talk to me back then it's funny cause i always thoght i was kind of cool and played ball and always had guys who thoght i was cool to hang out with but for girls i was an alien.

good luck to all on never feeling like that again.

  • just beautiful!! xxxxxxxxx

  • i loved it when fist came out & i love it even more now that i can see her ty youtube

  • always thought that this song was written about me

    related with this so much

it was a hit with us girls from Tenafly,nj

knowing that janis was from Englewood

  • ..she's brilllll-YANT.

  • Yes, guys can relate as well, at least I can. There seemed to be a different level of "cool" that I wasn't allowed into back then. Sad.

  • alverson123, that is perhaps what attracted me to this song. I've loved her ever since...the better part of 30 years. I'll always love Janis.

  • Nice rendition.

  • How beautiful! 5 stars

  • ชอบจังเลยเพลงนี้

    very beautiful voice

  • i am approxamately the same age as janis; i remember when this song came out and i thought it was the best ever back then. we weird and nerdy boys can also relate to much of the song's premises!!

  • Janis is still there!!! For 40 years now. Why can she be in some talkshow like Oprah Winfrey's? She can tell a great story and bring a great message!

  • I think it got even better over the years. One of the best lyrical songs ever. Memories, memories ;)

  • wow! Janis still has that beautiful voice
