  • is it okay if i use Mega Profectiv Growth- oil, shampoo, conditioner and daily anti breakage strengthener while using doo gro- triple strength anti breakage growth lotion and Black n' Sassy Wrap Lotion. Is that okay and i am wondering if aphogee would be acceptable in this routine and do you have any suggestion for my growing my hair from SL to BL away from what you have shared here. BTW I use Hawaiian Silky relaxer. Any info will be appreciated!! :)

  • Please follow me during my Hair Journey as I give hair advice on Twitter @ RelaxedHairCare. Thanks *hits chests twice and throws up peace sign* :D

  • great video, great tips... im natural and going back to relaxer in about 2 months... and u gave me great ideas... and for the video to be 13 mins, i wasnt bored at all you kept it informative and detailed loved it and thank you!!

  • I had relaxed hair and after years of relaxing and heat styling and not giving my hair the care it was yearning for, my hair gradually got shorter and shorter. I knew nothing about my hair. but recently i've gotten into some books and listened to people which taught me about my hair, I committed myself to taking care of my hair as a new years resolution. Its not even the end of jan. and i already can tell a huge difference in my hair! my hair is stronger and softer than ever. IT WORKS!

  • okay so i'm also trying to grow my hair out. i relax my hair every 3 months (using olive oil root stimulator) and mean while i use wigs..i have a busy schedule,so i only watch my hair once every 3 weeks..i don't use a flat iron, just wash it,put a treatment and blow dry it..my hair is really thick and nappy and i find it extremely hard to go without relaxers. i shed alot 2..any tips?

  • my hair is just like urs when u first started. i condition 1 r 2 times a week, shampoo once a week, add jojoba oil to conditioner and evoo. i cowash once a week, no hot oil treatment. how how long do you leave conditioner on when cowashing, i do protein treatment 1 wk after perm but you said 1 week b4 and shampoo, i use a scarf, however i set under a dryer when wrapping my hair but no hot curlers, i do add liquid leave n and evoo or jojoba oil, satin scarf i use. any suggestions? inpatient me

  • @monica2ru You are on the right track...to answer your question I sometime put conditioner on my hair when I get home from work and rinse out when its bath time later that night. Or I will just do a quick jump in shower, slather it on and rinse it out. I know how you feel. Be patient and you'll see a difference in length by spring time. Every 4 or 5 months I really noticed a difference myself. :0)

  • thanks for the response. I actually relaxed my hair every 4 mos. by usig a no lye relaxer mixed with a conditioner; equal portions.

  • You mentioned that you recommend applying the protein-treatments one week prior to the relaxers, but later in the video you said that we should use the clarifying shampoo before the relaxers. Do you recommend using the clarifying shampoo two weeks prior to the relaxers and then the protein-treatments one week prior to? x

  • @amixdee The month I need to relax I will do both the clarify & protein treatment the same night. Which is one week prior to a relaxer. You can also do a clarify shampoo a two weeks prior and the protein one week prior. Just choose a routine that you feel works best and easiest for you. :0)

  • Hi 1Romogirl,

U have inspired me 2 begin my very own hair journey. Just like u, I have chopped off all my hair & yearn for lavishly long hair. Suprisingly, there r very few videos on short relaxed hair types & promoting growth so I appreciate u sharing ur journey. Anyway, when u get a moment can u send me a list of all your products used in this video? They went by very fast. Ex: triple moisturizing nuetrogena has 3 different types of moisture cond. in the same type of bottle. Please help:)

  • @msmorgan1216 Hi, I finally got some time to type out everything I mentioned in the video that I use. Please take a look under the video in the info area. Hope this helps. So glad my video inspired you. Have a blessed day. :0)

  • Hi, that was a really good video. There are a lot of tips I will use to grow my hair back out. I just cut it short but I don't want it short forever. I really enjoyed it.

  • Were do suggest to get the deep conditioning hair cap from?

  • @MyEviee

I got my from Treasured Locks.com but always look on ebay and amazon in case you can find a better deal. I myself am a bargain hunter. :0)

  • do you suggest greasing your scalp? if so which one you recommend?

  • @msvalgo No I do not suggest greasing your scalp but I do suggest applying oils like EVOO or Jojoba oil to the scalp if dry and your scalp needs it. Works better and doesn't clog hair follicles and pores like grease.

  • would u reccomend a person to cut their hair if they want to start a fresh with their hair care

  • @sweetordy yes, but it depends on the person.....personally I am a person that cuts my hair to get a new start....for a person that is scared to rock a shorter look I suggest monthly one inch trims instead.

  • I really enjoyed your tutorial. Of all the ones I have watched yours is the most informative and reasonable (for my budget). Thank you for posting this and I will DEFINITELY be trying the suggestions.:)

  • @taradeejo1024

Thanks!! Glad it helps and is budget friendly.

  • love ths video. i am gnna av to try those hair care tips. i originally have long hair but its slowly falling off bcuz its not gettn the right treatment

  • I always come back to this vid to revive my knowledge! love it

  • I've been struggling for the longest time to get my hair to grow and to just have it moisturized and now I am soo excited to be able to get it to be so healthy. Im only 15 so some of the products you were using wre more expnsive and not really something I could get since I live in an all white community, but I like that you said different things that you could use in instead. Thank you so much!

  • @PatriceLeotaLyte

You are welcome and happy hair growing.

  • in love with this video

  • Great tips...thank you!

  • How long did it take you to grow your hair to that length?

  • @ArtIsMyTrueLove

If didn't cut my hair a few times to even my short hair cut layers as it grew out, it would of been about 24 to 25 months (2 yrs). It took 35 months or (2 yrs & 11 months) total.

  • What do you like best, coconut oil or olive oil. I just started using Extra Virgin Olive Oil and I feel that I'm liking it better than coconut. We'll see!

  • @candygirl2319

I LOVE extra virgin olive oil best. :0) Love it more!!

  • Woderful advice! Thx :)

  • GREAT tips!!!

  • do you also use aloe vera juice to get your hair ph back to 4.5 when you do your leave in? if not how do you get the ph back to normal?

  • @TweetyLover76

Great question. Sad to say but when I was relaxed I overlooked that important step. I lucked out I guess. Now that I am natural I worry about ph balance all the time. I use Kimmaytubes leave in mixture now which is ph balanced and has aloe vera juice in it and I love it.

  • @1Romogirl How long did it take for your hair to get from Shoulder Length to Bra Strap Length?

  • @GwendolynRaine

Good question. It took me 35 months or (2 yrs & 11 months) total. But If I didn't cut my hair a few times to even my short hair cut layers as it grew out, it would of been about 24 to 25 months (2 yrs). I had to cut a few times while growing back...my hair grew into a mohawk (long in back, short bangs in front). :0)

  • @TweetyLover76 Interesting that you asked this question. I saw that Romogirl uses Infusium as her liquid leave-in. I tried this b/c so many people love it, but it always leaves my hair a mess. I'm sure it's b/c the pH balance is off. I'm gonna try some aloe vera juice, since you mentioned it and I've heard so much about it. I'd hate to have to throw away that huge bottle of infusium!!!

  • Thanks for the vid and im a new subscriber :) I do have 2 questions 1. Do u oil ur scalp? If so with what and how often? 2. I need clarification, U mentioned that u Deep Conditioning weekly so how often do u DC with a light protein DC vs a moisturizing DC? I have both and i'm having trouble knowing which one to use and how often. Thanks in advance for ur reply :)

  • @misstinthehouse

Thanks for subscribing. Answer to questions: #1. Oiling my scalp is not apart of my hair care routine, I mainly use oil 2 seal in my leave ins. I do apply oil 2 my scalp when I do a hotoil treatments, which is 1 or 2 times a month w/ jojoba oil, evoo or coconut oil. Jojoba is best b/c its very similar to sebum we produce. #2. experimenting & reading articles by Sistaslick and LHCF post helped me know when 2 do light proteinDC or moisturizingDC. I'll send you some links...:0)

  • Thank you so much!! :)

  • @chikari123

You are welcome! :0) And thanks for requesting.

  • ok, thanks so much for your help. I'm transitioning to natural! Need all the help I can get!

  • Thanks!

  • @kammese

You are welcome....just sent you the link to Reniece Satin Scarf Fotki page. And check out Marcheriehair heat free youtube Beach Waves curls tutorial & her rollerset dvd.

  • Hi, after cowashing how did you style? I think I may try. I have some hairs touching bsl.

  • @kammese For curly styles I'd rollerset then pincurl before bed (Healthy Textures Rollerset Dvd helped me), or sleep in curlformers, or just pincurl or do braidout. If I wanted it straight I would use (Reniece Satin Scarf Method on Fotki) at bed and flatiron my hair on low heat the next morning.

  • Hi! How often did you co-wash?

  • @kammese

hello, I co-washed usually every 3 days, but in hot months like June & July I did it sometime everyday if it was a hott day & I needed to cool off.

  • gorgeous hair and amazing progress! you mentioned that you use a lye relaxer - would you mind sharing the brand?

  • @kadejm

Thanks!! I self relaxed my hair and my favorite lye relaxer was by Vitale (the one with olive oil in it). I also liked Mazani Butter Blend.

  • @1Romogirl

Vitale Ideal Olive Oil (Regular Strength)

  • @1Romogirl YES!!! I love and use Mizani Butter Blends...Thanks for the tips. I do have a question...Do u find that the HELTR coats ur hair ? I have it but i cant tell it its the HELTR or some other product causing a coaty feeling and breakage... Let me know what u think ...Thanks :)

  • @misstinthehouse

Hi, HELTR did give me a slight coated feeling so I watered it down. LOL! I dilute every leave in. One way I figure out if I really liked a product is after washing my hair apply the new product to one side of my head and use my regular products on the other side. If the side with HELTR feels coated & not moisterized then I would no longer use. Breakage is hard to pin-point (Clothes rubbing against hair, using high heat to style, lack of protein or moisture, sleeping w/ scarf)

  • @1Romogirl yea thats a great idea...since we wash our hair so often it wouldn't be as if we'd have to live with it for long...lol Thanks for the reply

  • @misstinthehouse

    search.yahoo.com/sistaslick.html

  • @misstinthehouse

Unfornately I am unable to post SistaSlicks links in this comment area so please look her up on yahoo. Her articles are awesome...(sistaslick real name is Audrey Sivasothy). She was my very very 1st inspiration ever when I started caring for my hair at home.

  • @1Romogirl k thanks
