The error is your hard drive is fucked but fix able you need to restore the file data base. Now turn it on stand by an press an hold the on/off button until it turns off again an press an hold for a second time an once you hear it beeps twice let go the a list will come up and press "restore file data" (3rd one). But make sure a game is not in the ps3 an it should be fine.

hold the button down till the system turns on then back off the let off. then hold the button down again and it will beep once then twice quickly then let it go tell you to plug in usb cord and press the button menu pops up number 5 restore ps3 systemagree with everything it says. let me know how it goes for you. i had the same issue now mines running smooth. but it does reset the whole system. :/ so anything saved is deleted.

The only way to fix this problem is changing the whole laser. I had the same problem cost me £40.00 to get a brand new laser. fixed it, 7 months on still working.
