Still, he should have only shot visible ground, and 1-2 shots at the dog's feet would have probably been enough, which would have still saved ammo had the kids not been there.

Shock can also numb the pain. She probably felt slight pain, knew something was very wrong but the body didn't know how to react.

Out here, we have Skunks with rabies, bobcats and packs of coyotes in addition to dogs. These are threats to children as well as stock. They will NOT stay gone unless they are shot at! Farmers HAVE to have guns!

Im sorry, but if I owned a farm with a lot of chickens, ducks, and various other animals, and my neighbor's dog is a vicious little fucker thats constantly attacking and killing them on a daily basis and the neighbors dont even care about it, then their dog deserves to get shot.

Im sorry, but if I owned a farm with a lot of chickens, ducks, and various other animals, and my neighbor's dog is a vicious little fucker thats constantly attacking and killing them on a daily basis and the neighbors dont even care about it, then their dog deserves to get shot.

But I do think it was reckless of him to shoot at random without thinking of the possibility that his child and the friends of his child were out in the field.
If anything, he should have shot behind the dog 2 times, then chase after it and shoot it the air, away from the dog and the field, that way, the gunshot noises scare it away and the bullets dont hit anyone.

I don't blame the guy. I am curious however as to why he shot into the shed if he was shooting behind the dog, and as to why he decided to risk killing the dog by shooting towards it, instead of shooting blanks or in the air.

Gun control my ass, there is no such thing as control when it comes to gun owner. You can get to know the back ground of anybody and determine that they are trust worthy owner but you cannot prevent things like this happening and you cannot prevent someone from finding an available gun to use to commit suicide.
