  • good lord Ricky your just a comedian ur not ur not solving world hunger you self important twat

  • he repeats the same thing over and over

  • @misstune1 He repeats his thesis so thick people might be able to understand his point.

  • @misstune1 because people ask him the same fucking questions

  • well said rickey blud

  • "You're not allowed to have a go at people for things they can't help." Then he turns to Warick - "Look how tiny he is..HAHAHA." The essence of hypocrisy. But of course he'll argue that the joke is on him, making fun of himself for being ignorant. But I call BS...he blurs the line so much that the joke is on both the ostensible and implicit target.

  • i do love him but he says alot about people with mental disabilities...i think it's totally fine because of his approach, but the way he speaks here saying about 'must be something they have control over' sounds so hypocritical. but i guess he was put on th espot to answer it.

  • Hollywood, grow a pair.

  • @6Gizmo101 ... again, he prefaced it bu saying "Speaking of the walking dead, Hugh Hefner." He also made a joke about the cast of a show (Desperate Housewives I think) being so old that he saw they on an episode of Bonanza. I think he's great. I think to be offended by his jokes is ridiculous. But it's just as ridiculous to blindly ignore the contradictions in this video.

  • @stunahan

Hmmm I agree with you....may there's a distinction because he's not attributing stereotypes to old people? i.e with the sex and the city joke he made fun of the photoshopping of their wrinkles not their actual age. With Hugh hefner he made fun of the fact he has sex with 20 year olds but didn't make a generalisation out of it. If he said ''old people are so annoying ''etc maybe he considers that different.

  • so much bullshit this guy is, hes not funny at all whys he suddenly hosting EVERY major American TV show?

  • @yxuz Get a sense of humor for christ sake! I don't know if your British or American, but you sound like you have a stick up your ass. I'm American BTW.

  • @Furkin44 then your contradicting yourself for not understanding my humour

  • @yxuz That was Humor??

  • Everyone that has been freaking out about his jokes this years need to watch this video, it is one of the best explanations for what makes for acceptable comedy. The entire demographic that the GG's reaches is a more mature older audience, no child is going to be interested in the results because hardly any of the films receiving awards are going to be made for children. Ricky knew his audience and wrote material with them in his mind. Frankly the GG's are a joke and Ricky treated them that way.

  • I love Ricky and he was BRILLIANT on the Golden Globes. This interview is ridiculous though. As for the not making fun of age thing, he did preface the Hefner joke with "Speaking of the walking dead, Hugh Hefner..." Yes, that is an age joke.

  • never go after age? didn't he insult hef being 84 and his new fiancee marrying him b/c she though he was 94?

  • @jake619 that's making fun of her for being a gold digger(a choice), not Hef for being old(not a choice). not saying he'll always follow it, but the logic pans out in this one.

  • the joke about hefs age is not because he is 84, but that he chose to get married at 84 to a 24 year old. thats the joke. it was be a pretty shit joke if he said. hofs 84 isnt he old.

  • no jokes about ages? i don`t think so :D

  • @AlvarHanso84 he said not about age but he did say he jokes about what people do and what they can help he he is a 84 year old man who married a 24 year old girl and the joke was mainly about her marrying cuz she thought he was going to die soon. (gold digger)

  • @6Gizmo101 yes you`re right. i understood it after i wrote my last comment :)

  • He's so boring when he has to answer spontaneously.

  • It's sad that some have become so sensitive and have this need to be so politically correct. Here Ricky is trying to defend himself because artificial celebrities with already low self-esteems couldn't handle it. You either like his type of humor or not... just like any comedian. What is the big deal? Why should any of this be taboo? Why am I even talking about this?

  • I love Ricky, but what a load of bollocks this is. He jokes about disability, for instance, constantly.

  • @MarlaSingerIsMyIdol He doenst say 'aha hevcan't walk' though, but he is being a bit of a poet here, And remember nothing was offensive in those golden globes.

  • @MarlaSingerIsMyIdol Humour is humour, if you can't laugh at something why can you laugh at something else?

  • @ThriceDog I was pointing out that what he's saying here isn't true. Not that he is morally apprehensible or unfunny or any of those things. Only that he does make jokes about people who can't help being that way - so he could just own up, and explain why that is ok, instead of saying he only takes the piss when people "have a choice", which disabled people for instance don't.

I also didn't like his opinion on fat people. Why is obesity not considered a disease, but anorexia is?

    That is all.

  • @MarlaSingerIsMyIdol How can you know what is objectively true or unfunny? Makes no sense, your simply against dry humor. I hate this brit, but your really dumb, just be real and say you don't like dry humor.

  • @BurepolIghtkel I said NOT. You can't even spell "you're".

  • You're full of shit gervais!

He took a piss at Stephen Hawking's condition. Guess Hawking chose to be like that?! Fuck off!

Justifying your filthy behaviour just makes you look like a fucking hypocryte...which you are. Everyone knows you're a cunt, so stop putting on an act, quit your fucking whining and tell some jokes you pretentious fucktard! Get useful

  • So what was the "joke" you did Ricky at the expense of Tom Cruise and John Travolta at the 68th Golden Globes in your opening monologue..was that not a gay joke....hypocrite or are you saying gays have a choice...like in marrying, having children to cover up their gayness and because it's a choice it's open to attack. Which is it, Ricky?

  • @SauronsEye I think that joke was more at the expense of Scientology and not gays.

  • @SauronsEye get a fucking grip will you

  • it's a gray area, but being gay is a choice. Some people don't realize they're gay until they come out of the closet one day.

  • I love Ricky's humor and I still laugh at politically incorrect shit, but Ricky's making some odd statements for someone who has joked about AIDS and cancer a billion times on the show Louie. I wonder if people "chose" to fall ill. He should just admit that he does poke fun at things that are not always in people's control. It's okay.. it's comedy.

  • @deadlyorgans

"a billion times"? It's claims like yours which take words out of context and discredit a person.

  • Best host and super funny.

Fuck you HFPA and your thin skinned celebs. Fuck off.

  • If you can't laugh at yourself =)

  • some people just have an inability to laugh at themselves, we just so happen to call those people Americans. thank you ricky for a hilarious show.

  • I have to say i agree with a lot of the things he said, and he was funny at the Globes last year, But this year, I personally found a lot of those jokes to be tasteless, tactless and not very funny, just unnecessarily offensive.

  • brilliant....one of the smartest comedians out there. Thank your Ricky for going into comedy!

  • Typo! I'm pretty sure we're born with OUR sexuality. :)

  • Mmmm.. He's right on so many points here. However, he's made jokes about Anne Frank in his show. How's he going to look her in the eye?

  • I know people who have chosen their sexuality.

  • @crazymarvel

    How does that work?

I mean if you are heterosexual male and don't fancy men then you aren't going to "choose" to be gay are you? If you did you would still be a heterosexual practising gay sex..

If you are gay you may "choose" to exercise a heterosexual sex life but you would still be gay.

If you are bisexual and choose one sex over another then you are simply exercising a preference - you are still bisexual.

  • @Mucky1little2me3 Yes, but they're not "choosing" thier sexuality. The'yre choosing sexual partner inspite of thier sexuality. If a gay man chooses a heterosexual lifestyle he's doing because he's afraid of coming out. I'm pretty sure we're born with out sexuality.

  • @Mucky1little2me3

So if a heterosexual man switches to homosexuality (which is defined as sexual attraction and/or behaviour towards another of the same sex) strictly, does he not become a man?

But this is not the place for an argument such as this. Ricky is a funny man

  • @crazymarvel How the hell does that work?

  • Didn't he just make a gay joke mixed with a scientology joke at the Golden Globes?

  • @luckystrke It was not a joke about sexuality though, it was a joke about someones CHOICE to conceal it. He wasn't criticising gay people.

  • Typical hypocrite. Being gay is NOT a choice, but eating too much is?? Using food to offset an problem is a problem, but until he gets the balls to understand that being homosexual is a choice also, he's a hypocrite.

  • @sjs2657 you are a fuckin moron.

  • @StevieWondersWhy24 Open your eyes and close your butt hole!!!

  • Gervais, you will always be a hero to me.

  • I wasn't a huge fan of Gervais' before -- but, after his hosting of the Golden Globes -- I love the man!

I thought he was ballsy, edgy, and hilarious! No PC mamby-pamby back-stepping.

    He was badass!

The closeted Scientology joke was fucking brilliant.

  • @keilitzb He cracked the usually boring ultra carefully PR-orchestrated ceremony with crackling irreverence & zest. The only disappointment was the effete director who passed on the corresponding reaction shots. Some TV idiots are so doltish & fear-ridden to not recognize a potentially good classic television moment even if it lands in the palm of their hand.

  • He is awesome. Gervais I love you!!!

  • He rambles a lot... but hey! It's Ricky Gervais! yay!

  • A class act!

  • wise words

  • @SpinyNorman90 yeah ignore the fact he made fun of Hefners age...wise words indeed fool the foolish.

  • @Caraecrika well, I made that comment before the awards ceremony so I only commented on what he said in this video. I also was a bit disappointed that he didn't really keep his word. But I do think his speech was funny :)

  • why him again?

  • @irvykinneas Because he's awesome? :)
