  • hey my problem is that when i instert the usb (microsd card) i get an error-

supported only upto usb2.0 or above(or some thing like that)

    can you please help

i would be evry thank full

    thanks anyways!

  • Is is normal that I can't see a difference in RAM in my task manager?

  • @Interdiu yea its normal, it wont show on the task manager.

  • thanks....................................

  • My USB dive is 1.91 GB is it good?

  • Only works with USB 2.0 devices and must pass tests for available free space, write and random read performance. Recommended to reserve 1-3x the amount of RAM installed. Your drive must be at least 2.5MBps throughput for 4KB random reads and 1.75MBps throughput for 512KB random writes. Open the "Event Viewer" and drill down to: Applications and Services Logs, Microsoft, Windows, ReadyBoost, Operational. Look through the list of events to see the performance rating for a specific flash device.

  • so it adds ram? or what?...

  • @maincourseistoocool that's exactly what it does. up to 256 GB, i believe.

  • Alright, i Tested this by myself to see What's going on, so here are my Laptop specs:

    Intel i5, 4GB Ram, 500 Hard Drive

before use ReadyBoost My Laptop start up time was 1 min 40 sec, after i start using ReadyBoost, (using all the 8 GB from my SD card as My ReadyBoost Device). my time was 1 minute only or less...

This is my info, for peole who likes a bit more speed... remember it doesn't mean you'll see the results after install it... you will start to see them when use your usual programs

  • I don't see "Speed Up My System".

Does this only apply to certain USB flash drives?

  • @TuanDinhVufromHawaii

It's there, you just can't see it

  • @TuanDinhVufromHawaii this feature is only available to devices that "should be at least be 256 MB in size, and at a minimum 235 MB of its available space must be free, and the access time of the device should be less than 1ms"

  • super great tutorial 10x :D

  • awesome video,if you have other advice, win7 any topic, let me know, thanks folk !

  • i was wondering, if you decide to use readyboost, do you have to leave the USB fash drive in your system?

  • the only reason i would recommend using this feature with windows 7 is if you have under 1gb of system memory and/ or the computer is suffering from the build-up of hundreds of unnecessary services running all at once.

-To REALLY speed up your pc go to flag--> run /or the flag key + "R" to open up the run dialogue and then type %TEMP% a folder should pop up, select everything /or ctrl + "A" and then right-click on any selected file and choose delete... then empty your recycle bin

  • how can i see what this is actually doing, its not showing anything in the task manager and, I am doing more info look up, just so i know,

Thanks for the video, it worked for me no prob.

  • @planetlover316 When you first enable readyboost, you actually have to wait for windows to prepare the" moving" of all the files to the external disk... open task manager then go to performance.. from there you should see your system memory usage xx% dropping steadily, you should also see the indicator light on your external drive (flash drive) start blinking...

wait a few moments.. and your system memory usage should drop to about half. (ex: 74% to now 58%)...

    mark

  • So, if I am playing a game on PC, and it lags whenever I see high textured areas (even with lowest settings), this will fix that?

  • @jamie007pwnz Unfortunately, no. The issue you're having is with the video card. It appears to be more than your VC can render efficiently.

  • I have windows 7 on one hard drive, and it doesnt work with my 2g usb stick, but i tried it on my vista on the next harddrive i have, and it doesnt work?

  • goooood...definitely worked for me...lots of improvment pc is faster.....AA++

  • r u using a mac book or a iMac???

  • but how to download this fucking shit

  • Can u boost more than 1 usb drive at once???

  • @james18212

    no that doesn't work

  • @smartface96 yes it does, i have two USB's and a SD card in right now.

(it supports up to 8 devices simultaneously.)

  • @james18212 yes, windows 7 supports up to 8 usb devices to boost it.

  • Its not pronounced "cash". Cash is what you use to buy the flash drive to use readyboost. Its pronounced "cache".

  • actually it is pronounced as "cash."

  • @GreenStarProductions and how the hell do you pronounce cache?

    like cake?

no.... sorry to tell you but it's pronounced like cash.

  • i honestly didn't see any changes on my netbook. as i will stick two upgrading my ram from 1gb to 2gb.

  • can i use my 1TB external HDD?

  • umm does it really do anything o_O

  • Wow why so complicated explained?

    1. Start- Click on COMPUTER

    2. Rightclick on your USB STICK

    3. Select PROPERTIES and Tab Readyboost

    4. Disable it.

  • Yeah.

  • @pduarandall or the same process if you dont get the boost option.

  • @pduarandall Because it's from lynda dot com, they always tend to get in-depth. Which is pretty good.

  • thanks W7...

  • i just boosted my compuster with a 32gb usb FD

  • i use my 1gb flash drive for ready boost..... i think it really work because usb's in vista or windows 7 are pluged in on high speed up adapters/2.9usb adapters.... hehe....

  • Great video, I tried it with a 2GB usb drive and my windows7 computer is more efficient now. Thank you and keep posting interesting videos like this one.

    Happy 2010

  • very nice, thank you.

  • Yes very good video very nice

  • good video .. really good explanation ..
