when the referee says "release" or "stop" you do it asap, usually when refs give out the disengage call sign they're already in a position to catch/hold the fighter. I'm a Machida fan and didn't like what I saw, however,this is not the 1st time I've seen it happen in a MMA fight. If anyone has a problem with it, its either they're in denial or they are new to the sport.

Imo jones is a pretty good wrestler but i always thought his striking was overrated. They say using a long reach like his require skill but i think theres not alot of professional skills involved because its easier to hit someone with his reach. I believe it requires major skills to dodge all those long mandingo limbs and get passed his reach. To all the people who keep saying Jones got owned the first round or Machida outstruck him, go look at the official punch stats. In Rd.1 both guys only landed 8 strikes, yes Machida threw more flurries but hardly any of his strikes landed. Jones controlled the pacing of the first round and controlled the positioning in the cage which is why 2 of the 3 judges gave the first round to Jones. In Rd.2 Machida landed 5 strikes compared to Jones 18, and Jones landed the punch that dropped Machida. EOS.

Joe Silva is responsible for setting up fights not Dana. Even though JBJ has had a very successful year, there are still 3 fighters (Rashad,Hendo,Davis) in the LHW he has to beat, that would probably take up all of 2012 for Jones. We can only start thinking about a super fight fight between the Spider vs Bones after he solidifies his position at 205. Imo jones is a pretty good wrestler but i always thought his striking was overrated. They say using a long reach like his require skill but i think theres not alot of professional skills involved because its easier to hit someone with his reach. I believe it requires major skills to dodge all those long mandingo limbs and get passed his reach. This is just what i think so all you jones nuthuggers continue to hug his nuts and for everyone else that knows about fighting please correct my opinion

To all the people who keep saying Jones got owned the first round or Machida outstruck him, go look at the official punch stats. In Rd.1 both guys only landed 8 strikes, yes Machida threw more flurries but hardly any of his strikes landed. Jones controlled the pacing of the first round and controlled the positioning in the cage which is why 2 of the 3 judges gave the first round to Jones. In Rd.2 Machida landed 5 strikes compared to Jones 18, and Jones landed the punch that dropped Machida. EOS.

Even though JBJ has had a very successful year, there are still 3 fighters (Rashad,Hendo,Davis) in the LHW he has to beat, that would probably take up all of 2012 for Jones. But telling everyone you guarantee that you're going to "knock his ass out" isn't considered cocky at all.
