John Dewey knew that there is something within us that resists learning. Thins I think was a matter of some institutional systems which taught by route. He was patient to find strength in the memory and its power to generate true democratic thinking and much of Dewey's life was spent teaching others the value of experimentation in their everyday lives. I take Dewey as my hero and guide as well as people like the late Richard Rorty and Harold Bloom who seek self-autonomy and self-reliance.

@zulu9876543210 Dr. Kieran Egan, writes in "getting it wrong from the beginning" the fundamental failure of Spencer, Dewey, Piaget (early 20Th Cent Psychologists who developed ED Physiology) that psychology can "disclose the nature of the Child" and "by doing so can accommodate the child learning modes", and make ED more effective. Psychology has NOT done this, it is a lie that ED clings to because Progressive ED is BASED on this lie.

That ED knows HOW children learn (we don't).
