Only certain species of sharks can be kept in a home aquarium, and still, they need a HUGE tank bc sharks need room to swim to gain speed. some species are banded sharks, epaulette sharks, and honestly, unless you have lots of money and experience keeping a saltwater tank, its not a good idea. I say when you first get the shark, you'll need AT LEAST a 250 gal tank, when young.

there are 2 pet stores in the vancouver area that sell these.
I'll put it this way.. if you know enough about salt water aquariums to actually be able to handle black tips, you'll have no problem finding them.

Its very much legal, Pet stores sell them all the time. Many people own them.
The only sharks that dont make good pets are the large salt water sharks. Nurse sharks are realy very docile. And Blacktips are so common you can pick one up at walmart for $5.00
Well... Probably not at most walmarts, but the town were I live has a hatchery. Te bigger ones, like these, are around 50 but hatchlings are very common, its just that they usualy dont live to grow up when kept together, so the hatchery keeps them seprate so they are Very cheep around my hometown.
In Oklahoma! One of the most landlocked states Ive lived in. But surprisingly oklahoma has more coastline (including lakes) then any other state, fisherys just add salt to a pond and throw some shark-babies in! lol
