Depends how much it's modified though as it clearly isn't the exact same riff. interestingly enough the stuff after the intro has the same kind of vibe that riff from To live is to die has.

There's also a good chance that he was just kidding around and it is actually Guns N' Roses. He didn't play very much of it though so it's hard to tell...

@SwedishBerzerker this is just a guess, but im going to say that was one of the earliest examples (at least that i can think of) of a solid mix of slow, more jazzlike playing and heavy riffs- like opeth would later become famous for. again, just a guess

And Metallica incorporated these kinds of clean/dist progressions on earlier albums too, like the intro to "Fight Fire With Fire" or "Orion" I think. It's got to be something more personal to Åkerfeldt.
