  • can anyone recommend anymore signed film, this one was amazing bt its the only one i can find. I know BSLBT produces many films but i cant find them on the internet

  • Lara!! You were amazing!! I'm so proud of you!! =D Its a very deep video. Maybe through more videos like these, more messages can get out =D

  • I loved this picture. Great story telling. I thought it was very well done. Even though I was about to give up after the part where the boss of the club rejects Ellen and when she has an argument with her mom, I was relieved by the way it ended.

  • Please Please Please Please tell me theres a dvd of this film? It is so deeply personal to me. I see myself as this girl.

  • Absolutely beautiful and so powerful, I want to share this with everyone I know here in the states. As an interpreter, I often encounter ignorance and this video reminded me that those moments of acceptance and understanding are one of the reasons I continue going back to work! Very well executed, powerful, and honest message. And a huge thank-you for employing deaf actors, I hope the American film industry takes notice!!

  • I cried, I felt so sorry for her. But I'm sorry I have to say it:

    WILL DUNN <3

  • It's a film that speaks to you - and it proves that a great film doesn't need dialogue in order to get across its point. I can empathise and sympathise with her.

  • @CLinc0ln Thank you for your lovely and perceptive comments on My Song. We really appreciate it!

  • I love this film! It is really sad to watch someone who feels that they don't belong, who feels rejected and that no-one is interested in her. I thought she was going to commit suicide for a second at the end. Thank goodness someone displayed interest in her! It shows how one person can make all the difference in the world when so many don't give a damn and few actually care. Great, great inspirational film - there's always someone out there.

  • That's so so beautiful song!! is that movie?? What is called?? So i can get a dvd. Thanks..

  • @73busymum The song is 'A Way of Living' by Sarah Harrison. It's not commercially available I'm afraid - but send me a message if you want to know more.

  • Well done! Great acting and directing. Inspirational story!

  • i cant believe how lonely, angry, sad, and happy i felt through out this video - definitely worth watching, the ending was sooo wonderful <33333

  • It is just WOW, wow...

I loved this video and every single person presented in the video, seriously this does make me feel emotional too :' )

I was hoping if you could present this video on BBC channel (if it is technically possible!), this is because this video deserve more than 1M views!

I don't know what to expect for the next episode <3

  • Just finished watching this - I absolutely loved it. The direction, the acting, the story. The leading actress reminds me of old silent movie stars with her expressive face and huge eyes. I'm deaf but have children of my own, and watching the experiences Ellen went through reminded me of my own childhood, and at the same time I sort of sympathised with the mother who just wants the best for her daughter. That ending was a heart wrencher too. I really look forward to seeing what you both do next.

  • @MrBijomaruMogami thanks - what a lovely comment!

  • That was so beautiful, well done to everyone involved!

  • no this can't be the end! make this a t.v. series!! please!!!

  • @ladysolitary85 haha glad you want more! Well you never know, but it's probably a one-off!

  • brilliant

  • what is the song that she is signing?

  • @jakeyyy1995 It is 'A Way of Living' by Sarah Harrison. It's not commercially available, but was purchased specifically for the film.

  • @billster1977 ok cheers :D

  • Brilliant video!

  • Hi Billy! Saw the link on America's Deaf Digest. Watched the entire film. Nice job! Good story, Lara Steward is wonderful, and I hope you do a sequel.

    Mike Ernest

  • is that the end ??? I want more...it was so touching!!!

  • I loved this film. I am hearing but have Central auditory processing disorder and hyperacusis so I can barely hear what people are saying to me half the time! I sometimes use makaton sign to get my point across and it really frustrates me when people won't bother to learn to sign back! Oh well, can't change the world eh! I really want to learn BSL hence I watched this with the sound off. Does anyone have experience of being a hearing signer? Are you well recieved by the deaf community?

  • Brill - so moving xx

  • Beautiful and compelling story told through Ellen's perspective, which the clip portrays this so articulately. Lara is a wonderful actress and the clip has been edited and directed beautifully to capture the worlds of deaf, hearing, oral, signing, oral-signing, oral-non-signing etc.

  • @legaldeafgirl That's an excellent summary of what we were trying to do - thank you so much for watching!

  • excellent video

  • Congrats! How can we highlight the captioning inclusion also here? Well done!

CCAC is the place to be for captioning advocacy - universally.

  • I am in tears!! That was spellbinding and so moving, great acting, well done all!

  • Two Thumbs Up! This is a very thought provoking and powerful film. Well done!

  • Beautiful story - made me cry. Sadly it's a true story that happens more than is known.

  • That's powerful!

  • This film was really good. It was really touching

  • That was so beautiful!!!!!!

  • BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Was only watching this because of Will Dunn (and being a Harry Potter fan I wanted to see what he was like before DH P2). However, now I'm glad I watched it. It was a really thought provoking story and almost brought me to tears. It takes a lot to bring me to tears.

  • @t075iana Thanks so much - really glad you were compelled to watch to the end and that it had such a moving effect on you.

  • sharing this on facebook now. =)

  • Will Dunn is beautiful, and so is this movie :]

  • Wow, this was amazing. This was such a touching story. I cried for Ellen.

  • I ADORE this. Finally, a true story about the deaf by the deaf. And no one else could have told this story better.
