can anyone recommend anymore signed film, this one was amazing bt its the only one i can find. I know BSLBT produces many films but i cant find them on the internet
I loved this picture. Great story telling. I thought it was very well done. Even though I was about to give up after the part where the boss of the club rejects Ellen and when she has an argument with her mom, I was relieved by the way it ended.
Absolutely beautiful and so powerful, I want to share this with everyone I know here in the states. As an interpreter, I often encounter ignorance and this video reminded me that those moments of acceptance and understanding are one of the reasons I continue going back to work! Very well executed, powerful, and honest message. And a huge thank-you for employing deaf actors, I hope the American film industry takes notice!!
It's a film that speaks to you - and it proves that a great film doesn't need dialogue in order to get across its point. I can empathise and sympathise with her.
I love this film! It is really sad to watch someone who feels that they don't belong, who feels rejected and that no-one is interested in her. I thought she was going to commit suicide for a second at the end. Thank goodness someone displayed interest in her! It shows how one person can make all the difference in the world when so many don't give a damn and few actually care. Great, great inspirational film - there's always someone out there.
@73busymum The song is 'A Way of Living' by Sarah Harrison. It's not commercially available I'm afraid - but send me a message if you want to know more.
Just finished watching this - I absolutely loved it. The direction, the acting, the story. The leading actress reminds me of old silent movie stars with her expressive face and huge eyes. I'm deaf but have children of my own, and watching the experiences Ellen went through reminded me of my own childhood, and at the same time I sort of sympathised with the mother who just wants the best for her daughter. That ending was a heart wrencher too. I really look forward to seeing what you both do next.
Hi Billy! Saw the link on America's Deaf Digest. Watched the entire film. Nice job! Good story, Lara Steward is wonderful, and I hope you do a sequel.
I loved this film. I am hearing but have Central auditory processing disorder and hyperacusis so I can barely hear what people are saying to me half the time! I sometimes use makaton sign to get my point across and it really frustrates me when people won't bother to learn to sign back! Oh well, can't change the world eh! I really want to learn BSL hence I watched this with the sound off. Does anyone have experience of being a hearing signer? Are you well recieved by the deaf community?
Beautiful and compelling story told through Ellen's perspective, which the clip portrays this so articulately. Lara is a wonderful actress and the clip has been edited and directed beautifully to capture the worlds of deaf, hearing, oral, signing, oral-signing, oral-non-signing etc.
Was only watching this because of Will Dunn (and being a Harry Potter fan I wanted to see what he was like before DH P2). However, now I'm glad I watched it. It was a really thought provoking story and almost brought me to tears. It takes a lot to bring me to tears.
Beautiful! I have passed this video along to my classmates at Gallaudet! This video tells the story of thousands of deaf, late deaf, hard of hearing, mainstream, and oral deaf! Thank you for telling this story!!

I loved this video and every single person presented in the video, seriously this does make me feel emotional too :' )
I was hoping if you could present this video on BBC channel (if it is technically possible!), this is because this video deserve more than 1M views!
I don't know what to expect for the next episode <3
