Why on earth didn't Renault introduce the original Twingo in the UK? Full of character, style and personality, the thing that Renault used to be good at years ago. It would have been a great replacement for the original Renault 5 in a lot of ways, instead we get the new bland Twingo, which is bettered by many rivals. In fact Toyota with the Aygo has more or less stolen ideas from the original twingo with the exposed interior paintwork and single wiper!
how a nice music for a more nicer car! For me the old twingo is better than the new and why you selling this car? This is a nice car man don't do that! :(
This comment makes me wish Renault had brought out the first Twingo in the UK. It would've been bigger than the Ford Ka I would've imagined. Plus nowadays they'd be even cheaper than the old Clios most likely for first time drivers.
My auntie drove one in France and said it was an amazing little car.
Was it much of an inconvienience driving a left hand drive in the UK?
Aside from being cleverly packaged, the original Twingo was taller and wider than most of its contemporaries (including the Clio, if I remember correctly). This made the interior very spacious but also, because of its boxy 'monospace' shape, the Twingo was easy to park and drive.
I actually learnt to drive in an RHD Peugeot 205. As soon as I passed my test, I owned various Twingos - So LHD is all I'd ever known, until selling this car and buying an all-new Twingo!
...in fact, I should add that my swap over from the original LHD Twingos to the all-new RHD version was kinda scary - Not for me, but for my friends and pedestrians ;-)
Fortunately, you are completely wrong, because the Twingo ultimately achieved a 3 out of 5-star safety rating, on par with the Corsa and Ford Ka. There were never any issues with its safety record and the Twingo was safer than the 2-star Clio.
Renault did not introduce the Twingo in the UK in 1993 because small cars weren't massive sellers. The Twingo changed all that. When the Ka came along Renault realised their mistake but the factories weren't geared up to making right-hand drive versions.
So the car wasn't sold in the UK? *lol* So you see: It's YOU driving on the wrong side, not us!*g*
I've heard that you can change the position of the front and rear seats so you could even sleep in the car or transport very long stuff on the right side. Is that true?
If so, I think about getting one as a (very) small transporter, because I don't want to use my all-new Citroen C2 for that...it could become dirty *scream*
I loved this car! But when the rest of Europe got the Twingo the UK had to make do with the old Renault 5 Campus - all because Renault couldnt be bothered to make a right hand drive version.
My French Renault Twingo was bought by a English lady in Paris, she then moved to Oxford UK. The next owner took it to Spain, then back up to Manchester. I bought it from him and it stayed with me on the Welsh border for 2 years. This film served as a kind of advertisement for selling the car - And it worked! It's now living in Spain (again) at the holiday home of its new owner. I do miss the Twingo!
I'm from Glasgow...didn't notice anything wrong with the grammar :) Um.. I still don't see what's wrong with it :) Anyhoo - that is one well travelled Twingo!
Como te extraño fue mi primer auto, ahora tengo un Peugeot 207 una basuraaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!
