@OxfordGrants: LOL, what a diplomatic way to remind me that I always somehow get those 2 clinpsy experiments crossed up! Thank you so much; you are absolutely correct- it was that Stanford Prison Experiment, not the Milgram experiment., which was that simulated electroshock gizmo. I just hope that B. F. Skinner's ghost doesn't appear to chide me; that man always severely creeped me out. I once designed a T-Shirt that read, "Behaviourists Count Rat Rears". [Peter Pan bow] Many thanks again:)
Excellent upload of an extraordinary film; many, many thanks. Search "The Milgram Experiment", the (in)famous American university clinical psychology experiment that put student volunteers into a well-simulated prison setting, assigning roles of "prisoners" and "guards". The unexpected catastrophic results of that experiment were horrifyingly analogous to this amazing film's plot dynamics, and what happened at Abu Graheb's "enemy combatant" prison, Dachau, Auschwitz, Attica NY ...
I've always thought of this as a British version of Cool Hand Luke, King Rat was close, but if you get into that you have to include all the great POW movies, these were not prisoners of war but of circumstance just like you and me- got to admire the spirit
This is a classic film I saw when i was a kid, and have always confused in my hunt for it again with King Rat, for some reason. Thanks very much for this, will enjoy!
