This songs makes me relate to the fact the cycle we are forced into a entrapped society but because this cycle has thickened. That has become even harder to brake out of especially with a capitalist regime, religion and obeying authority. Our generation has given up from protesting that something that cannot be changed without the pain of others; a paradox of ethical morality? Maybe that is why we all zone out to the reality of this great song and video?

whats so great about Bloc party is that they seem to be both political and about human dynamics. this song can be read any number of ways. it can be a statement on our generation and how we arent really a protesting generation like our parents were. Or it could be read, how the uploader, and how i view it, as a song about just personal issues. seems to me to be about being so horribly burnt out and depressed that you dont feel like doing anything which is a viscious cycle.

it has to be said this video is the perfect compliment to the song itself. Bloc Party to me is a magical band. So many great songs. The director and actor of this video really nailed the feeling that i have felt and I think many have felt, kele as well, that we are wasting our lives, toiling at some petty job thats meaningless when we could be out doing something...or being something...

they always end the song with an epic track. "Compliments" is a very slow end to an epic punk album and first brings out Bloc Party's use of a synthesizer. this is my favourite track on the album.

Even thoguht the other two album enders (SRXT and Ion Square) go out with a bang, Compliments goes out with a whisper almost.
