I saw this movie when it first came out, just after I graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in Philosophy. I'm 61 now and have led a life of traveling and adventure. It's still my favorite movie. I've got a copy. As Richard Dawkins explains about all the circumstances that need to exist for you to exist... well, just think about how fortunate you are to simply be. Make the most of it. Anyone who sees this movie is a better person for it... I saw it on a plane to Hawaii with headphones on when it came out. Imagine the looks of the people watching without sound! I'd look around,, say, when Harold hangs himself, and they looked agast, had no idea what was happening! When I landed in Honolulu, my heart was wide open!
I absolutely adore this movie. I always loved Ruth Gordon's movies, but when I saw this movie, she stole my heart and ran with it.

This is my all time favorite movie. I can't even express how much i love it. Harold...is the love of my life. ha. And Maude is amazing.
