  • I couldn't give two shits about the mental anguish of a piece of shit terrorist, but I care very deeply about preserving the lives of our citizens. If WB a terrorist, can thwart a terrorist attack, I'm all for it. The reason, is not because I am evil either. The reason, is because I place a far higher value on the lives of our citizenry than I do the mental anguish of a terrorist whose number 1 desire in life, is to die while killing us.

  • I am completely at a loss to comprehend the rationale of an individual who would call someone evil for WB a terrorist to extract information that has the potential to save lives.

I just don't get that mindset.

I bet Nick Berg's parents wish he had been waterboarded.

  • OK so lets put the sandle on the other foot. Abdul grabs a down flyer. Would it be OK for Abdul to torture our Airman to learn when is the next bombing run? What are the soft spots of the F-16? Abdul justifies this as it happen to him when in Abu Ghraib, no? Put voltage to the airman's crotch. Waterboard the boy from Kansas. That is OK since that is what the Americans did to Abdul? You can make anyone say anything to stop the pain.

  • One of the arguments of those that do the interrogating in Iraq is; that is what happens to our guys in the hands of the enemy. Oh Great! now we are getting lessons in how to treat prisoners of war from the other side? Where would we be in the world today if A> We had tortured and mistreated German prisoners? B> Treated Japanese prisoners like they did ours? We would be hated by a lot more people in those countries. If the other side uses gas weapons, do we?

  • Its nice to see some people here have some common sense. Great video.

  • GAH! Floating head! . . . with good points.

  • Very straight to the point mate.

  • Well said.

  • Good for you

  • What is good and evil anyways? If evil is used to a good end, is it really evil? If good intentions cause evil effects, are they really good? Point is, good/evil are silly tags since everything is contextual.

Now, I'm not saying I condone torture, but if a person is known to have information vital to the safety of innocents, would torture really be evil?

  • Explain "know to have information". How can you know without a doubt that someone has information? Just because someone is even a known terrorist, doesn't follow that they will know about a particular attack. This is why they operate in cells. And it's already been shown throughout history that information garnished from torture is unreliable - mainly because the person being tortured will just say anything to make you stop.

  • Thank you for showing this, you're a good guy. Hope Bush and company watch it too.

  • Just a note-(there exists no good or evil.If I would have to expand on that, send me a message, cause it's a very complicated personal belief system that would not fit in here) ,but in humanity certain moral concepts must be upheld at the time.

  • Thanks! Nice thoughts. I have seen the original Daily Show on tv. But now, I'm searchig for it on Internet and I can't find the whole clip! Can somebody help me? I'd really like to get that video.

Oh! By the way, most democratic countries send their prisoners in other undemocratic affiliate-countries so that they torture the prisoners for them. Of course it's under the supervision of the "democratic country" :(

  • Whatever happened to the concept of not sinking to the level of your enemies?

  • You hit the nail on the head, our country was founded on the principals of rule of law and due process.

Israel had secure cockpit doors and armed marshalls on every flight since the late 1960's and we suffer 3,000 plus deaths and an attack on our commerce and military hubs because lawfully possessed Stanley knives make it onto airliners.

Do a google search for "Capt. URI BAR-LEV" and when you find the link, scroll down to "thwarting hijackers".

We dropped the ball on 9/11.

  • you are so right! That says about everything.

  • run for president, you got my vote.

  • Thanks for posting this, Reluctant Redneck. I live in Alabama, surrounded by people who've rationalized evil American practices for so long that they've pretty much sold their souls. It's great to see proof that my occasional stereotyping of rednecks is as wrong as Red state occupants' stereotyping of everybody who's not just like them.

  • Thanks!

  • Im in Australia and Ive seen a real shift in Australian hating America because of all of Bushes malicious policies and actions.

American tourists are attacked on many occasions where as they were welcome before Bush took office.

  • Wow, to make a statement like that makes Australians look barbaric and ignorant if 300 million Americans, if any one so chooses to visit Australia have the possibility of being attacked for the policies of one American.

  • Its Australia mate, thats the way it goes. Try visiting the middle east. Would you go around to everyone saying you are American even though you hate the policies. Thats life.

  • Strike Austrailia off my list of places to travel to and spend money. How come you guys didn't spend all that energy helping win the Vietnam conflict? Oh, that's right mate, you guys are good at attack tourists, not guys with guns. Fair dinkum.

  • We cannot tell you how to run your country but I feel its only fair to let you know that free peoples from around the world will always band together to oppose countries that ignore or abuse human rights to attain their goals.

The only question is , will America lead the fight against these countries or be the threat that we all must band against?

  • If what you say is true, then why is Cuba still under Castro? How did Darfor happen? What about the ethnic cleansing in Kosovo?

What are you "band" against? Fight and win your own battles and we'll keep our noses out of your business.

  • you are the smartest, wisest, most level-headed redneck i have ever heard the opinion of and i have complete respect for you.

  • Vote Ron Paul!!

    Free Hugs From Tx

  • sweet powerade hat!

  • Oh, I'm not saying torture isn't evil. I'm just saying that people that do that can't be classified so...unrealisticly, I suppose. But I totally agree that torture isn't good. Sorry about the misunderstanding.

  • No problem. It's all opinion. I'm wrong sometimes. My wife reminds me often... 8^(

  • Oh how witty. *rolls eyes* Not really seeing as I'm only twelve, and I can't do much "good" or "bad". But I assure you, I don't bully people on the playground, or step on cats! Come on people, I'm not saying that torture is good, the message is great, but good and evil? Black and white? Meh, not too close to reality for me...

  • Believe me, if you were the one being tortured you'd see the black and white of evil. It would bring a new meaning to reality. And I'm not really talking about good and evil as absolutes. I'm just saying that torture is evil. I'll stand by that. Thanks for your comments.

  • ok, I don't approve of torture in any way or form but I cracked up everytime you said evil. What are you, eight? You still think the world is divided into good and evil? Black and white? This was of "evil" as you call it, is just the type stupid people do, because it makes contreversy. There are smarter, disceeter ways to be, *ahem* "evil" as you call it.

  • So I guess you're one of the smarter ones?

  • If the tourture of Prisoners makes the US evil then we have always been evil since the begging.

    Deo Vindici

  • Well Said

  • Thank you

  • Can i ask you, all of you, how we should protect our country from Terrorist (re:9/11)How do we get the information to prevent further attacks? Further innocent lives lost? I don't condone or even like Torture. I just want to ask EVERYBODY for viable ways to get the info and protect ourselves.

  • There is no evidence that info obtained under torture is reliable, a person will say anything to avoid further torture. Also a policy of torture fuels more generations of people who want to kill Americans for stripping people of human rights. There was a time (especially under Carter) that America stood for human rights, now it stands for barbarism.

  • That is not what I Asked. I Ask, HOW should we go about gaining information to avoid further Terrorist Attacks? Tell oh Great Wise Ones...

  • ever wondered why the only countries with recent terrorism problems are ones involved in the USA's foreign policy (UK, Spain etc). One day Americans will realise that they are not fighting terrorism, they are fighting the reaction to their foreign policy, and the unconditional support of Israel. You are losing allies all the time, and now Blair is gone you will lose Britain also. America is hugely in debt due to wars, it will all end badly for America in the next few years.

  • Have you noticed that the Terrorist attacks started WAY WAY before the invasion of IRAQ. Hijacked Aircraft, Cruise Ships, Bombed Embassies, Bombed Marine Barracks, Attacked Warships (USS Cole) Human Bombings on Bus's, Cafes, Cinema's etc... Thousands upon thousands KILLED, BEFORE IRAQ.

  • There are ways of "torturing" that are not really torturing. Have you read General Tagabos report to congress on the prisons in Iraq? Making a father sodomize his son is not a good way to get info and it makes the U.S. look like animals. That is just one of the events at one of the prisons. We cannot be the moral aurthority in the world and condone torture. Do we want our soldiers treated that way? We can no longer allow this admin to ignore the Geneva Convention.

  • Shame you arn't in politics, shame I'm not American in that sense because if i was, I'd vote for for presidancy just by what you just said. Bush is a war criminal who is now seeking legitamacy on his actions to condone torture = evil. Bush, you are an 'evil doer'... now watch me take this shot.

  • Good man, Well Said..

  • Thank you, I am always glad to hear people form the USA who see other people as human beings.

  • It's as simple as that.

  • Well said,Congress should have that little talk with EVIL GEORGE EVIL BUSH!

  • You are a very intelligent man. Have you ever been on a major tv talk show? I'd sure vote for you. Thank you again.

  • Thank you.

  • This is another reason I love rednecks

  • Well said!!!

  • Thanks!

  • You are evil buddy,it would take you one second to hurt someone who had your daughter or wife or dodge pick up tuuck. You just happen to be lucky, dumb and safe. When your luck runs out,you wake up and find out you are no longer safe on the couch watching hee haw, trust me, you would turn on your mother my friend-

  • Good call.

  • With means of torture one can make Bush confess he is actually Osama's evil twin brother and partner in terrism. Ones tortured enough, anyone will confess to anything, just to stop the pain. But what is it that a torturar actually gains by doing so? He didn't get the truth, he only got what he wanted to hear.

  • Did you read 1984? Some people are really that evil that they say that "God is Power", and that this is slogan is reversable, and that the only way to show that you have power is to inflict pain upon another human being, otherwise how do you know he's following your will and not his own? These people are, of course, sick. As the guy says "If you condone torture, you're evil".

  • Glad to see common sense can still be found in some parts of America

  • Thank you for proving that not all americans (not even all rednecks) are fascist idiots.

  • good statment u made me like america again... there is still hope we just need more people like u!

  • Thanks!

  • Define what is good and evil.

  • Check the dictionary. I don't want to play that game. Thanks for watching.

  • Sorry to tell you but the dictionary creates a circular logic loop by trying to use it as a premise for defining evil. The definition in this subjective statement comes out too: - morally wrong or bad.

Thats a pretty open ended issue because a lot of people will go as far as to state that torture of any human, guilty or innocent is morally wrong.

  • I would agree with that statement.

  • Please keep in mind... I'm not saying you're wrong. In alot of these situations I CAN see it as being necessary. I just say, leave it to the courts to decide when it is necessary or leave it in the hands of a military tribunal... but not in the hands of the President (regardless of WHO the President IS).

  • I agree with that, as well. I'm a big fan of jury nullification to take care of those instances where the codified rules fall short. Thanks for your insight.

  • Has anybody ever noticed that the biggest supporters of this torture bill and president bush is the ted haggard crowd? The same people that denounce harry potter, a fictional character, as evil believe that the president is within his rights to torture people?

  • Yes, legalization of torture set one deadly fucking precident, it is now legal, that is mindboggling. What century are we in , damnit?

  • Exactly my point. Just amazes me that there are that many people out there with an IQ lower than their belt size !

  • hmmmm....maybe binladen needs to send a couple of canadian commercial jets full of innocent people into a couple of canadian high rises....Somehow I think your post will change...BIG TIME !

  • Shut up stupid...go over to iraq and see some real torture...geeesh people, wake up.

  • lovely :) If only all americans felt that way... :(

  • Thanks. I think most do...

  • Every day brings us one step closure to true fascism, wherein the many serve the will of the few, the 'government.' Fascism only occurs when good people stand by, believing that evil maintains a certain distance from our daily lives. Out of sight, out of mind. How did torture become so impersonal? It is intimate in the ugliest sense of the word. It exists only with our permission. Evil doesn't need approval, it only needs a blind eye.

  • Thanks for the great comments.

  • Thank you for addressing a simple truth- Evil exists because of the complacency of those able yet unwilling to STOP IT. We have many examples of how adaptable mankind is. We can quickly learn to first tolerate, then accept, awful acts of violence. Torture has no purpose other than to gain power by stealing it from others. Torture uncovers only one truth: The collective minds of millions can adapt to awful violence when given a cunning leader and rhetoric that feeds the fear in people.

  • wow. you got my respect. Even if i am from a different party perspective, you said it better then i have heard it presented before. you rock!

  • Thank you.

  • Very good video. When I saw the "Reluctant Redneck" tag I wasn't quite sure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised though by the content.

Some say torture can be justified in the right context. This is a very slipperly slope. At bottom, torture is either right or it is wrong and if it is wrong then it is NEVER ok to use it.

  • Thanks.

  • thank you

  • This floating head is creepy. Good speach thou.

  • Yeah, I got away from that. Check out my new vids at my ReluctantRedneck channel. Thanks, Tony.

  • Keep puting it out there keep on the presure

  • Thanks. Be sure to check out my new channel, ReluctantRedneck. It's where I post my new vids. Thanks, Tony.

  • Well Done!! How can one who says they're "Christian", not agree with your comments.?

  • Thanks!

  • Interesting fact pointed out by George Will: "By Jan. 20, 2009, all the elected presidents for 44 consecutive years will have come from three Southern states — Texas, Arkansas, Georgia — and Southern California."

  • Well...so much for the stereotype that all rednecks are brain dead. You have a very eloquent and easy-going way of speaking, which I like. Keep up the good work.

  • Thanks!

  • Interesting fact pointed out by George Will: "By Jan. 20, 2009, all the elected presidents for 44 consecutive years will have come from three Southern states — Texas, Arkansas, Georgia — and Southern California."

  • keep it up.

  • Im one who does NOT hate you. You speak truth, and you strengthen faith in the American people to open their eyes to the truth. The world is angry, but it is also full of support and concern for good men like yourself. We're all in this together. Stay true, brother.

  • Thanks!

  • Holy Crap! A redneck I can agree with. The world needs to know that there are Americans who feel this way, I find it a great relief. "Evil begets Evil" well said man.

  • lol. Yeah, I think that line might have come from a preacher in a B-movie western, but I don't remember... lol Thanks for your comment.

  • Interesting fact pointed out by George Will: "By Jan. 20, 2009, all the elected presidents for 44 consecutive years will have come from three Southern states — Texas, Arkansas, Georgia — and Southern California."

  • torture was outlawed in the US how long ago, I thought everyone was equel under the law,but now some believe they are above and beyond that foolishness

  • It's all part of the process to pare down the constitution. We are in danger of becoming a police state.

  • well said my good sir... well said

  • Thanks!

  • Damn straight. Thanks, Redneck!

Thanks to everyone here that posted, too (except for one person, may God have mercy on his soul). My husband and I are relieved that so many others agree that tortue is just wrong. Evil happens when we treat other humans as non-human.

So let's rise up, make a fuss, and BE HEARD.

  • Great comment. Thanks.

  • Preach it, brotha!

  • I am very impressed. Some people have a lovely ability to express comlex situations with insight and class. Your video was a simple leasure to watch. On the content I am also very much with your views. Keep up the quality and the observation and i hope that it starts to have some effect outside of this site.

  • Thank you.

  • AMERICAN PATRIOT Bless you good sir well said.

  • GOOD WORK, ReluctantRedneck.

Evil. It really IS that simple.

  • Thanks!

  • I don't know anything about you as a person in general, and won't begin to make any presumptions about your character.

That said, this commentary seemed thoughtful and sincere, and--while I may be a bit more accepting of forceful policies than some--I agree with you here, wholeheartedly. Well said.

Torture was wrong the first time it was practiced, and torture remains wrong today. Even when force is required, disconnect from knowledge of the humanity of others is not.

  • Great comment. Thanks!

  • Most Americans say "I cannot believe the Govt would kill 3000+ innocent Americans for propaganda and political reasons." Please add this " ... AGAIN." Because they've already done it numerous times. Look up "The Future is Calling" by former John Birch, G. Edward Griffin, re. Lusitania and Prl Harbor. Look up Operation Gladio and Op Northwoods. Memorize "helpful wave of public indignation". There's more too.

  • Al-Qaeda has ALWAYS BEEN a subsidiary of the CIA. In 1978, to LURE the Russians into Afgh. From 79 to 89 to kick them out. In 1993 at WTC, "Al-Qaeda" was an Egyptian working for FBI, named Emad Salem. Embassy attacks and Cole was Al-Qaeda, Egyptian agent named Ali Muhamed, ALSO a US Army Sgt. Look up Senate Republican Kosovo Report. Guess who?

There ARE NO INDEPENDENT TERRORISTS. Al-Qaeda is like Manpower or Kelly.

  • Wonderful. Perfect. In terms we all understand.

Torture is Evil. There is no doubt about it.

    Thank you.

  • Thanks!

  • Some things really are simple. This is one of them. Thank you for saying it.

  • Thanks.

  • Thanks, you are truely speaking truth to power. Ever since I found out that our country, supposedly the beacon of light was torturing people I have been angry. Deep, guy-wrenching fury. I appreciate you telling the truth. Torture is evil.

  • Thanks for your comment.

  • no terrorist attacks in canada either, and last I checked they don't torture.

  • yeah, they just rely on the usa for their security.

  • If we have to become Al Queda to defeat Al Queda, then we've already lost. Maybe you want to sacrifice our great country to stupidity and evil, but I don't.

You want a country that get's it's rocks off on torture? Move to Iran. They'll love ya there.

  • Good point.

  • see above, moron.

torture has always been used to get information.

this is not a new thing.

welcome to reality. you and that moronic redneck guy have a thing or two to learn about the way things really work.

  • Listen, asswipe, just because something "is" does not mean something OUGHT to be. You stupid douche

  • but because it is done, and a common practice (whether you know about it or not), means that it is done and you shouldn't be so surprised when you learn about it happening. sorry to burst your bubble. sorry about smashing them rose-colored glasses of yours.

  • Oh, believe me, i've long since ground my rose colored glasses into the dirt and left them behind. I have no faith in people, but I still want them to change, and the "way things are" is WRONG. Like torture.

  • finally after reading all these post I run across one person with a brain. Its amazing how many brainless idiots that are out there that don't have a clue about reality. An earlier post that if we become them to defeat them we've lost. I'm sure if those that died in 911 would love to hear you talk that way. Wake up, stupid, when your dealing with this kind of terror you do ANYTHING it takes to stop it.

  • You guys are idiots. Torture is only common practice because we let it be. You guys, who go with the flow, are the idiots, who seem to think we can't change reality. You don't have to use torture to get what you want, it leads to more torture, hate, war, genocide. We humans capable of peaceful interaction.

  • Try stopping it before it happens. As in be liked instead of hated though out the world. Terror only exists because we fear ourselves so lets get rid of that fear. Don't say you make it sound so easy. It is easy. We just have to accept our differences and fall under a general mind set. Ashcroft, don't try to think what those who died in 911 would feel; if they did feel hatred, it would would be from murder, rape, etc. that happens on a daily basis. Thats how vengeance is created.

  • no terrorist attacks in the usa since 9/11.

move to canada if you don't like it.

  • That's just goofy...

  • goofy works at disneyworld. and that's where you belong. in a magical kingdom where everything is puppydogs and cotton candy. why don't you go find a terrorist and give him a big hug, you anti-american sisterfucker.

  • Another nitwit who knows nothing about our countries' history. It has nothing to do with "niceness" and everything to do with being Patriotic. Pull your lips off Bush's butt. Torture is stupid, counter-productive and evil.

  • Thank you.

  • listen, asshole, why don't you go hug a terrorist?

as if scumbags weren't tortured when clinton was president.

    please. stop being so naive.

  • Your on a roll, tdejmcd,...you tell them !!! Tell all these dumbasses that will probably vote for Hillary to wake up and face reality !

  • thank you mister.

  • Thanks!

  • thank you for posting this. Right on! What the current administration calls "interrogation techniques" (such as water-boarding) are established methods of torture. We are breaking so many international laws these days.. it is so sad! Also I agree w/ you - the apathy w/in the US society provides an environment in which the administration gets away with so much!!! people like you, with courage to speak their mind, are helping to chip away at the apathy. Thank you so much!

  • This video shows the America the world once loved. We, citizens of the free world, want this America back.

  • Yes we do. Thanks!

  • Thanks for standing up fot truth, honesty and real American values.

  • Thanks for listening.

  • TORTURE IS EVIL...I AGREE

  • THIS IS THE AVERAGE AMERICAN! He's right, there is right and there is wrong and what our supposed government is proving itself as EVIL as Stalin and Hitler!

  • Thanks for your comment!

  • thanks.

  • It's always a good feeling to see someone who is trying to keep their heart in the right place in the midst of this mess... It's easy to argue that the ends justify the means, but these prisoners are human beings who fight for what they believe in, just like us. Maybe our little beliefs conflict, but the point should be to help out all our brethren, not just our immediate family, or those of our country. The world is a big place and it needs big minds.

  • Great point. Thanks!

  • hear hear good sir!

    hear hear....

must say i was doubtful when i saw the name "redneck", but i was pleasantly surprised.

the progress of society depends on socially responsible and humane thinking. every time we forsake this we take another step back.

keep up the good work, mate.

  • Thanks for your comment, Tony.

  • Thought for the day.A former Russian spy can be irradiated to death in UK, the radioactive trail followed and within a week every bus, hotel and restaurant he visited identified while the massed armies of the West can't find a single WMD in Iraq in 5 years.I rest my case!

I don't know who I feel more sorry for, US or Iraqi's.

  • I'm glad this was aired before Youtube becomes a US controlled media source like Google is in China.

What would happen if everyone who disagreed with 'Bush' and his supporters converted to Buddhism? 'Peace' is a theory folks.

  • Thanks for your comment.

  • Wow. More than I would expect from a redneck. ;)

If you told me on September 10, 2001 that in 5 years most of our Bill of Rights and international standing would be in the toilet, I would never, ever believe it. Hell, right this minute I can't believe it.

    I want my country back!

  • Me too. Thanks

  • Why do we deserve to exist in the luxury and decadence that we have, if it is at the expense of torturing and exploiting others?

Why should the other 3 billion people want our 300 million to live? Because we have "democracy"? What does "democracy" mean? That the majority of the 50 million that vote in our country elect a government that kicks everybody else around and tortures anybody who is not among the elite 300 million that live here?

  • Thanks for your comment.

  • Has anyone told you you look like Richard Dreyfuss? :P

  • Most folks think I look like jaws... lol.

    Thanks, Tony

  • Smart man, torture is not only evil, it is unreliable as well. I could beat the shit out of someone, drag there face into thumbtacks etc, until I get them to say they are a dog, the fact is that they said they were dogs purely because I was causing them pain, not because they are dogs.

  • Thanks for the comment.

  • Simple truth and totally on the

spot ! We should send this to all

    politicians in Washington.

  • Thanks.

  • Simple message, plainly stated, and quite correct. I'm glad to see so many supportive messages above, too. Too often, people let political divisions and conflicts blind them to the simple truths, and find themselves awkwardly defending an immoral practice. Anyway, right on!

  • Thanks!

  • Not only is it evil; it doesn't work. Anyone who is being tortured will say anything to make it stop. Whatever information we get from someone who has been tortured lacks credibility.

  • Thanks.
