Rolando fué mi compañero en el conservatorio y de verdad tenía una bella voz. Siempre he pensado que el profesor Jaso, q.e.d le arruinó la voz. Todos en aquel entonces lo idolatraban y sólo los desgraciaba pues no había nada de técnica vocal. Ahora no lo sé. He visto algunos videos y se escucha espectacular pero no sé si es talento o en verdad ha resuelto su técnica.

@olgasoprano1 Es solo talento, porque por la parte tecnica, no tiene nada tecnico: si vas a buscar "Villazon crack" en youtube, vas a encontrar un video en el cual el sonido se rompe por incompetencia total de tecnica. Ahora esta cantando cosas de Renacimiento y Barroco como Monteverdi sin tener la minima idea de como se canta!

Una estrella que se ha ido y un total payaso vocal!

Para mí, Villazón es excelente en lo que hace, y no sólo porque hable mi mismo idioma o nacionalidad. No fue ganador, fue segundo lugar. Ha habido muchísimos ganadores de múltiples países, no sólo gente de habla hispana. Y por supuesto, son elegidos por un comité, no sólo por Placido Domingo. Paz.

It's interesting that in this video, earlier in his career, he's consistently covering on F#...take a look at him in Salzburg singing Romeo in '08 and listen to him sing Ab's wide open. No wonder he has trouble singing now.

hehe thankyou for posting... I have consistently likedVillazon's singing he's very at ease and likeable on stage which this clip totally proves... Its nice to see someone having fun and not taking themselves too seriously.

Pues muy buena noticia para todos: Rolando está cantando muy bien y está cantando en todos los grandes teatros del mundo otra vez. El caso de él fué simplemente que cantó demasiado sin descanso. Y lo hizo así por años. Pero ahora está de regreso y cantando muy bien. Sin duda su voz es muy parecida a la de Plácido.

'qual piuma al _ento'?? Where did the v go? When one looks at singing and vocal artistry, the arias are at the top level i.e. they ask the most out of the voice. But the principles are still the same as say a John Denver ballad. If a singer doesn't pronounce accurately and naturally, then they are not singing. They are just making sound effects with their voice. Words, not notes, are the building blocks of any song. They will also free up the voice when one uses them correctly and naturally.
