  • I'm wondering, did the vetch spread? Did it attract any butterflies?

  • @logos2600 Yes, the flowers spread very well. Also sowed other plots - one about 1 mile away had a new Small Blue breeding colony within 1 year after seeding. This spot hasn't got them yet, but I'm hoping they arrive before long.

  • Jason my wife Dana asks if the Kidney Vetch has any medicinal or kitchen properties? If you get a moment to answer - thank you.

  • Hi,

Yes, I believe so, Dana. Apparently it was used for helping wounds to heal, hence the Latin epithet, 'vulneraria'. (Vulnerary.)

That's all I know without checking my herbal reference book.

  • Great! Can't wait to see the flowers in May and the butterflies.

  • Very informative good one

    Best wishes Richard
