i saw this bird at my local park xD My friend ran up to it thinking it would be scared away but it ended up chasing him away. We found out later it was defending its eggs and it was pretty angry lol

My town is called kildeer, their everywhere, I've never felt scared of em like wtf hah, they do that to protect themselves, tehy fake being injured.They realy are pussy birds apard to millions of other ones

Killdeers seem cute in videos, but once I saw one hold it wings out & chirp like mad as it started running towards me. I'm 18 and even I was frightened!

It was afraid that you were going to step on its eggs or chicks. Unfortunately, these birds are not too bright as to where they put their nests and a lot of eggs and chicks are destroyed by accident.

BTW, it wouldn't have hurt you one bit, but would have gotten very excited, loud, and done it's act to steer you away from the nest.

this is called the 'broken wing act' when they see a predator they act like they have a broken wing and emit a distress call they do i to lure the predator away from her nest if she see's the predator still goin after the nest she will get louder and get closer till it attracts the attention of the predator

Yeah, I saw the killdeer species for the first time a couple days ago. The one I saw was doing the exact same thing. It came at us and me and my little cousins took off flying!!!
