My home is full 8" log pine with the bottom 2 or 3 rows log siding. Log siding on the dormer as well as the garage. Had to replace much of the siding recently because of the stupidity of the previous owner. But both the siding and the logs look good. On the garage, we have a butt and pass making it look even more like a log garage. If there is one advantage of having siding is that you can probably build the home more air tight then full log home.
