@rickyjshiznit: The live version of 'Diamonds and Rust' on the '98 Live Meltdown album is in standard tuning and Ripper sings it brilliantly, so that's a moot point. Saying outright that he ''can't sing high enough'' is wrong.
@GoldenRatio2 i wasnt taking a stab at rippers singing abilities, i was just saying that he cant sing as high as halford. thats why you dont see a lot videos of him playing in e because it would be impossible for him to sing high enough and probably impossible for halford to sing high enough now that his voice is lower than it used to be. they play msot stuff in d now with halford because he simply cant sing as high as he used to, also it being heavier might have something to do with it
i find these Ripper Years too dark and hellish for Judas Priest. But the music ain't too bad now that I've been listening to the albums Jugulator and Demolition. Some songs are actually very good. Though, no chance of being as good as original Priest.
One of my favourite Priest songs. Admittedly, I'm not a huge fan of this period in JP's career but this tune is still amazing. The lyrics are perhaps a bit naff/simplistic but I'm sure most metalheads can relate to them in some way which is a good thing.
ripper is good singer but halford is a god . I like some of ripper songs like cathedral spires, bloodsuckers, close to you ,oh and i like his version of diamond and rust in metal meltdown album
Yeah he is rly good. He just faced an impossible task takeing over afting Halford. I think he did great on Jugulator and Live concerts. Demolition wasnt that good...
Love Halford AND Ripper. Hell is Home kicks ass!

Both Ripper albums rule. The sheer brutality of both albums makes them stand out.

Grew up with Halford , but damn Ripper 's vocals are so strong ! Everybody gives him shit . Not me .
