Well in reality, a Shotgun can kill you from one end of a Football field to another, but in games, they're "Balanced", thus I doubt you'll be able to nail a Sniper in this game with it, at a Distance.

I found out where he was and then chased him with the shotgun, and got a couple of hits every time before he escaped. I was pissed and had tried and failed many time so it was really funny when I was chasing him with the shotgun.

I took the easy way out on this fight, Stood on a cliff, fired my pistol around till he shot and missed me and i went straight to his location every time :D

@TheNexusLeader The actual easy way is saving during the fight and setting the date of your console settings one week forward, then go back in the game to see The End die of old age. not sure if it works on the ps3/hd-remake, but it was funny as hell on the PS2 original :D

Phil wants to use a shotgun in a Sniper battle, granted if you can sneak up on the end you could deal massive damage at close range, The last thing you should be worrying about in this fight is where is my shotgun.

This is how the Saving System works in MGS, when you save it saves your last Checkpoint.

The Last Checkpoint is after a Cutscene ore when you just enter a area.;-)

By the way, how do you fight a LONG range Sniper whit a SHORT range shoty? Phil... what world do you live in? Can pig's fly there?

lol i remember when i played this for the first time i layed down in the waterfall for a while trying to find him and i was in1st person with the sniper when i suddenly hear: you ve been a great match. when i got out of 1st person view he was behind me and shot me right in the head

the best way to beat him is just to run around till you find him once and chase him with the cig spray, takes out a stamina section in like 2 to 3 sprays

@PathosEater Well Kojima is making Metal Gear Solid 5... i Gues your one of those who thinks SOLID stands for Solid Snake? Well it does not, Metal Gear 1 and 2 also had Solid Snake as the main character. SOLID stands for SOLID 3d Graphics, MGS on the PSone was the first in the series to have 3D graphics.;-) If you have not noticed, if i had been wrong this game should have been called Metal Gear Naked as in Naked Snake and MGS2 Metal Gear Raiden.;-)

I remember killing this guy with the tranq pistol when I played this years ago and he drops some kind of epic camo you can wear. I don't actually remember how I did it though, it probably took a long time though. :V

@ieatmidget Actually I was playing this recently and it wasn't that you had to take him out with a tranquilizer (you get his sniper rifle for that) but you have to sneak up on him 3 times to get his moss camo

the game did "take your shotgun". the way the save system works in the MGS series, is that it will only save & checkpoint your progress every time you enter a new area.

if you enter a new area, the game takes everything you had on you from the previous area and checkpoints everything for when you are in the new area. the only way the game would save the shotgun, for example, is if you exit the place you got it from and then saved in the next area. MGS doesn't have a photographic save system.

Also, use the directional mic! You'll be able to hear the end breath and sleep if you point it in the right direction. You can use it to find him.
