  • Yes, world...look out! It's a Fairmont! Wooooooo

  • my grandma had one of those, and this guy that lives in my hood has one now and its clean as hell he pimped it out with rims and candy paint

  • I drive an '82 Futura. 39,600 miles on it

  • 39,600 Miles? WOAH....take care of it ....sounds Like its a good car....The fairmont/zephyr were good cars....they had the unkillable 3.3l Straight 6....what color is yours?

  • @jakesaintsrow123 It's powder/baby blue. I've racked up another 2,000 miles though. A/C doesn't work but oh well

  • American cars' styling sux balls big time.

    Peuw!!

  • Oh how I love the 80's!! but the cars from the 80's were just SO DAMNED UGLY!!!!

  • Had a '79 Ford Fairmont as my first car. Ugly as hell, but I'll always have fond memories.

  • Matter of fact, it was the same one at the beginning and end of the ad...

  • Had a "78 Fairmont. First car in '84. It was a piece of crap. Smoked, knocked, exhaust leak, paint on hood faded. My friend's Futura was pretty nice, though.

  • @kw1rvp2b wow 78..In 1984 that wasn't even that old....so it was in bad shape? Keep it long?

  • @jakesaintsrow123 Think I squeezed about 2 yrs out of it...

  • @kw1rvp2b Where did you get it? guessing An auction since it was only 6 yrs old in 1984

  • hilarious

  • Cool man. Good to know that I'm not the only one who liked a Fairmont. Yeah, mine still has the original straight 6 in it. Theres soooooooo much room under the hood of this thing. You could do any job imaginable without the need of a shop doing it for ya. Notice how so many modern cars have everything compacted under the hood so your not able to do things yourself? They make it to where ya gotta bring em into the shop and face a high charge unlike the Fairmonts day and beyond.

  • WoW!!! My 1st car was a straight 6 1979 Ford Fairmont that my mom got me back in 96 when I first started drivin. I still got it, but its rottin away in my driveway. I wanna restore it so bad cause it was my first car with a lot of memories. No one wants to do the job though. Their all like, "you'll never get nothing out of that thing." I want it fixed for setimental reasons, not to sell off. This car however had some power. It wasn't the fastest on the road, but it moved faster than my 97 civic.

  • My first car was also a Fairmont. It was a 79 or 80, 2 tone beige on brown, 255 V8 and 3 speed auto. It had just a plain ol' 1 speaker AM radio. The car was rusty as hell, step on the gas and you could feel the car twist. 3rd gear on the tranny only worked 1 few times, so most of the time I drove it around in 2nd. What I miss most about it though was its interior room, mechanical simplicity and its surprisingly good handling. I miss that old rustbucket like crazy

  • I'd love to have that car in sims for some sims progressing through different time periods when they reach the late 70s/early 80s era. And wow, that is a cheap price (lmfao)

  • I had an 81' FUTURA coupe, black with tan buckets and a full console with digital readout...it was a nice car, but with a lousy 4cyl engine I'd rather the small 8cyl.

  • You could also get it with the 200 cu. in. straight 6-cylinder. That's the engine that my grandmother's 1980 Zephyr had & it had some pretty serious balls for a basic grocery getter.

  • Yeah, and good! To the point and with a nice (you can call it cheesy) jingle. Sure beats some of todays car ads!

  • my parents had a 1980 and it had a buzzer.

  • At least Shaggy from Scooby-Doo (and the host of T40) would voice-over the commercial; sadly, the US Fairmont was short-lived where the Tempo replaced it back in 1984.

  • Yes; US Fairmont was made from 1978 to 1983.Only five years

  • @tiaguarrra: I thought 1982 was the last model year...

  • @montrosepatriot

dude, this car was a complete piece of shit, it had no power steering and drove about like a tractor, anything over 30mph was dangerous. I bet alot of lives were lost in these cars.

  • Did the 1982 Ford Fairmont come with a chime or a buzzer?

  • My 1982, which I still drive with 317K plus miles on it, has a...........BUZZER!

  • My parents had a 78 Fairmont. It had a separate seatbelt buzzer and door ajar/key in ignition buzzer.

  • I enjoyed the commercial. Thanks for posting. I had a 1980 Fairmont. Good old car. People say American cars were awful in the 70s and 80s. They were not that bad.

  • Damn Ford must have picked up styling cues from Volvo on this one!!!

The thing I find amusing is how Ford utilized the same model name on completely different cars - there has been for many years a Ford Fairmont sold in Australia (upmarket Falcon) yet apart from having optional V8 engines had NOTHING in common with the American one!

  • Same thing with the Ford Fusion!

    Europe = Tiny compact car

    North America = Midsize sedan!

  • Thats right! Theres been a few others - the Ford Granada was a completely different beast in Europe to the one in the U.S (though they were the same size!), same with the Escort!... ...on the other hand the North American Focus started out similar to the European one, but they are different now!

  • Yes...American Focus is still the old model from 1998

Another example: Maverick; in US a 70's compact car and in Europe...a SUV in the 90's

    regards

  • The european Granada is smaller than the american.

  • Look out wooooorld..... Here comes FORD!

    Hahah, love it!

  • Hey nofanny, I got a nice two door futura I'll sell you for 500...it needs a tranny, motors got 85k on it..I'm in ct.

  • Casey Casem (radio announcer)

  • isn't this the car Mick Foley drove?

  • Yes,he travelled and slept in a Ford Fairmont.

  • What an obscure car. Now that I think of it, some of the best transportation apliances have been obscure.

  • Obscure because it hasn't been made since 1982, for 1983 they restyled it and renamed it LTD, then it was replaced by the Taurus in 1986. However the basic car lived on as the Mustang until 1993.

  • Very informative, thanks!

  • This so makes me want to buy one
