  • en el minuto 1:12 la que aparece es la catedral de León

  • Serà la primera parte de la Batalla Imperial de % tono de Juan Cabanillas?

  • It's a beautiful sounding organ and it's a shame that they play it only once a year. You'd think that they'd give concerts on it every now and then or at least play it during regular services.

  • Beautiful video. Beautiful sounding organ with those vibrant reeds. Juan Cabanilles was indeed the the Spanish Bach. A true master of Baroque music, and the photos of those lovely Spanish organs are to die for, as is the El Greco towards the end.

  • To my knowledge the Emperor's Organ is only played once a year, during the Feast of Corpus Christi in June when the procession re-enters the cathdral at the start of the liturgy. Usually an improvisation. From what I gather it's largely silent during the rest of the year. Very sad.

  • @steppin The cathedral organ, playing the cello at the entrance of the Blessed Sacrament and other major celebrations, such as a sort of priest.

  • My question is how often is the Emperor's organ played these days? Do they still have like concerts on the instrument?

  • I recently found out that this is actually a Toccata by Cabinilles and not a Batalla. I cannot be perfectly sure, however.

  • Those reeds are powerful and full of life.
