@louthebody the biggest shame is our economy ...and the banks wanted it that way since they controlled it back in 1913 ....its amazing how that restaurant tavern on the green lasted this long...the current owners facial expression say it all....tavern on the green and its history is no more ...just watch you see...
Alot of NYC staple stores/eateries have closed in the past decade replaced with Subway, Starbucks, Duane Reade, Mc'Donalds, i suspect the same will happen here. Burger King replaces Tavern on the Green or how about a new Walgreens? The Bloomberg era.

I hope Donald Trump will get it. Even if he rebuilds the Crystal Room, I think Tavern On The Green can return to it's glory days.

The biggest shame is 400 more jobs are lost. Hopefully the new owners will take back most of the staff when it re opens.
