I completely agree with all you said including the whole outcast thing. In any group you're always gonna have someone who doesn't fit in or that everyone else decides to ridicule. As for myself I am a transgender girl I have always been an outcast even when I was in the closet until age 19 at which point my mother disowned me and my father called me garbage and trash. It has always been difficult and I know it will always be but I will keep going. I completely support GSUSA for what they do. I
I agree completely. People need to understand the difference between sex and gender. If the girl you are responding to isn't willing to accept males that identify as girls, then she shouldn't be in such a group to begin with. I take acceptance over bigotry, and anyone who opposes letting a seven year old male who identifies as a girl into girl scouts sided with the latter.
Well, there you have it. I am a red blooded heterosexual male, but I'd feel more comfortable "opening up to women." Therefore, I'm heading to the next "Curves" Women's Aerobic class and demanding that I be able to work out with them and shower with them afterwards. That is MY comfort level and I demand my rights.
I was a girl scout, too. And now that I'm seventeen, I look back and see that.. I was a total outcast. In fact, my scout leader's daughter was my best friend when we were in the scouts and stayed friends forever, and neither of us fit in. We couldn't relate to the other girls at all. I know exactly where you're coming from. c:
@bumblebeemouth Don't Ask Don't Tell didn't apply to trans* folks, so its repeal doesn't, either. Trans* people are still not allowed to serve openly in the military.
I called the Girl Scouts of Colorado Corporate Office to thank them personally for being open minded and all inclusive. They tell me that the best way to support the organization is to buy more Girl Scout cookies. It would be great if everyone expressed their gratitude and called the Colorado office to personally thank them or simply bought more cookies. Thank you.
Don't get angry and even bother to respond to her, or anyone elses bigoted comments about the Girl Scouts and trans kids. Just do the opposite of what she's asking-- BUY SHIT LOADS OF GIRL SCOUT cookies!
Well said! If I was making a movie about high school I'd cast the young lady who made that video as one of the snotty cheerleaders and Usoly would be the smart, cool outsider.
@DarthPhallic And this is one of the reasons why us transpeoples are said to be evil, abominations, etc. If we respond to their hate with more hate like this, it will only lead to more and more hate. That girl is ignorant and it is our right to inform her in a safe and non-hateful way. Saying someone deserves to die without them having done something to deserve death such as murder, only shows that we are as close-minded as they are. Peace, love, unity, and respect. If we don't respond with
@EchoesOfVoices Agreed girl. I'm open as being transgender although most people tell me I don't have to be. The only place that I'm not is at school and that's for my own personal safety- I live in the deep south. But I always try to give not hateful responses to people as well even though they a clearing pushing hate. I like this video. Like your response too BTW. We have to show that we are not the ones pushing hate but love instead.
Hi can i read your feet? Jus't put your feet in front of the camera for 1 minute you can make it unlisted if you don't want no one to see it on you channel send me the link in my inbox
when I was younger I was in the scouts, they kicked me out because I didnt believe in god. A friend of mine told me that after I left the scout leaders said my beliefs were "poisonous".... My grandmother and mom refuse to buy GS cookies because of that, I think they taste good but the way I see it, not buying them keeps my waist-line happy hahaha.
@DraoiSidhe THAT is a travesty. Those leaders/whoever should be brought to the attention of the national chapter. It's a Christian organization, but they are to accept EVERYONE, not just jesusy-people... BAH.
@dancingrenegade unfortunately it was almost 10 years ago that this happened, If I could I would go back and see that justice be served. but hey, the incident made me all the more wiser.
@THECOLONEL50 Another correction! "Transgender" is not a verb. People don't just "transgender" and call themselves "transgendered" when they're done. Being trans* is also different for everyone, so there's no one process, which is what saying "transgendered" implies. Just a thought! (:

They have a mental condition. They are not female. The only real transgenders are hermaphrodites.

Honestly? I agree with 95% of what you said. the only thing I do not like is the don't ask don't tell. Because if you tell in the army. your fired.
There is no need to have dont ask dont tell when you can see the person has a male look.
So that would not work at all in the girl scouts.
However I am sorry that you had a bad time in the scouts.
We don't have nearly as simular stuff as the scouts in the USA in my country but they were not exactly a good experience for either.

Don't Ask Don't Tell was actually repealed this past year. Just an FYI.

@bumblebeemouth I know, but it's still the simple thought. Especially since the Don't ask rule could fly by WAY easier in girl scouts.
