cobus DID actually used the PST 5 cymbals when he was just starting and its fucking awesome, checkout the description in his old videos if you dont believe me.but im not sure though if it is a rock or a medium ride
This not a bad cymbal. It's Probably one of the best ride cymbals for the money. I recently got the 22" Rock ride, and it is really good. I was telling my friends about it, and showed them it, they said for $150 (which is what i payed it) That is a sick ride.
I did a sound for it. Check it out it's on my channel.
Cymbals are just like drums or guitars or anything else musical, they all sound different even if they are the same model. The best thing to do is buy what sounds good when you hear it. I heard a crash cymbal in Chicago in 1992 that I should have bought, I have never heard one like it since.
I bought this cymbal (it sounded great for in the shop) and was totally dysappointed, when bring it on my rehearsal. This cymbal killed me with its ringing and overtones and tape will not solve this problem, i've tried. No clean sound, only droning =( I return this to shop and replace on a paiste 802 ride (it was the same price by shop action on paiste cymbals) and now i'm happy)
I don't think this vid does much justice for this cymbal. I have one and it sound so much better than this when you have it set up with your drum set in fron of you. love it.
This ride sounds pretty cool in real life for the price... don't let distorted camcorder microphone recordings on youtube influence your opinion of instruments.
Actually it has a very greate sound, I've recorded with it, and in Studio sound with a lot of cut and Proyection..... It's the High Mid Serie, cheap but high quality
Not a dark pitch anywhere on these. I'd go with the 2002 myself if buying a Paiste. Learn about the different alloy in each and then make up your mind. It depends on what king of sound you want. I play Zildjian K, Istanbuls, and Masterwork because I like darker, warm, trashier sounding cymbals which are probably the complete opposite sound of cymbals like in this video.
I agree, but the Pst3's and pst5's are good value budget cymbals. It tends to be the lower end cymbals are brighter in pitch and get darker as they get higher end
this cymbal in its largets form is less than 150 bucks....thats dirt cheap for a cymbal. and if yo replace them one at a time instea dof splurging liek most drumers htink you have to do..."ohhh i need a new ride so now i have to replace everything"
Then you can have the best cymbal set up in the world for a lot less money.
ok no problem :) he was saying things like "why do you buy these when you can get amazing sounding cymbals like zildjian cuztoms A's what i own" ect ect
which ride is better considering sound quality over price: the pst5 or the 2002 series, can any one tell me also how much is a "good deal" of any of those used so i dont get robbed please, i appreciate any help on this decition, thanks
hey orasilth, im DEFINITELY not a started to drums but am very budgeted and cant get expensive cymbals and am looking for the best deal for the cheaper cymbals.
the PST5 rock set has been on my mind for a while, and was wondering if u think its a good $300+ dollars used.
Depends what music you wanna play. If you're going for lighter music (jazz for instance), forget about PST5. It sucks ass. The ride has some nasty nasty overtones and no clean wash, and the hats are, well, just awfull.
sounds way better than the zildjian zxt rock ride, I had one and upgraded to an a custom projection ride 21" it kicks ass, if u have the buck it's one of zildjian's best rides
I love this ride. I'm getting the whole pst5 rock set soon. Glad someone put this on youtube. You don't happen to know any page with video+sound testing of cymbals and drums?
The 22" is much deeper and louder. It's great for loud music and the ping is good enough for other styles of mucis as well. The 5's are great cymbals.
is the bell loud on these

Cool story bro.
Yes, i agree but Paiste provides best cymbals samples ever.

But the thing is that no two cymbals will ever sound the same, even if it's the exact same model.

Yeah ! Good choice, these are very good cymbals for little money ! $300 is a good price. Take them and enjoy !
Orasilth 3 years ago
im not a huge fan of paiste, ive owned reall low end crap.
(paiste 101 brass 20" ride, 101 14" crash, and pst 3 13" hats)
imo they all suck.
i personally am fond of the zbt/zxt zildjian series.
i own a 16" zbt crash, and absolutly love it for only paying 70$ for it.
ive had it for... close to 8 mounths now and it cracked in the last month.
but, instead of sounding like ass (after youve cleared all the metal from rubbing) it has an awesome shimmer with a bit of trash.
Ryoubreathingnow 3 years ago
your best bet, is to go to a guitar center or similar and try out some cymbals.
the one an hour from me has a cymbal vault, and thats how i picked out my current set.

are they around the same price as pst5's??
