  • this sends chills up my spine. why cant we have a president with the power of speaking like this. i wish we had a president who inspired when he spoke like this one did

  • @LoreJunkie Look up Ron Paul, he's the only presidential candidate that makes sense.

  • @EXTREMECHAOS94 No, his isolationist policy is exactly the opposite of what FDR is talking about here.

  • @OhmgrownCron Ron Paul is your last hope, the U.S. Government is trying to provoke a war between them and Iran and Ron Paul is the only one who seems to be on the ball when it comes to foreign policy. Either the Americans make him win the presidential election, or the United States is finished.

  • amen...

  • DID ANYONE ELSE CRY IN THE LAST EPISODE WHEN THEY PUT THIS SPEECH ??? T.T

  • EXTREMECHAOS94 i can't agree with you anymore, where i live there are 3 pearl harbor survivors, in my county there are more WWII veterans than any where else, i wish i was apart of these men, fighting along side of them, fighting with them, being one of those fighting, if i had the choice of dying or a WWII veteran dying, ill choose death instead, and ill die to save that persons life, i respect these people more than my family, god bless these guys

  • The Greatest Generation voted for this man 4 times, why can,t we have a great man like this? Now we have the GOP and Obama, we do not have the choise of the better man, but of the lesser of evils.

  • @dave19941000 Actually, you should vote for Ron Paul. He's the only one who's actually going to save the United States. If the Americans don't elect him, whatever ensues and happens to them is entirely their fault.

  • @EXTREMECHAOS94 His economic and social policied have been tried in many countried during the 70s, 80s, and 90s, and in all of then it was a disaster, without exeption. And besides, Ron Paul is the exact oposite of FDR.

  • @dave19941000 Either it's something new and fresh, willing to bring your nation to the glory it deserves. OR, you can have the same old politicians and fall deeper into the financial crisis. Your options are very limited.

  • @EXTREMECHAOS94 When the new and fresh is as bad as the status quo, there are no options.

  • @EXTREMECHAOS94 Paul is something interesting, and despite my bias against the GOP during the rise of the radical right, Paul captured many of my friends attention. Many of his domestic policies make sense, tho I disagree with him on the CR of 1964, and he raises concern of a growing government bureaucracy and a greater shift from state to federal power. However, his isolationist foreign policies have me concerned. Recallling all troops will boost IR approval, but def not the Glory of the US.

  • @dave19941000 Actually FDR wasn't that great of a President. If you look up at a lot of the things he advocated, he wasn't 'all that'.

  • @SKiiSMLIVE When you look at what he did, and compare him to those who came before and after, he was much better then the rest.

  • @dave19941000 He was more successful than the rest. There is a big difference. As other people have pointed out, his financial policies were dismal. He was the one that decided to detain German, Italian and Japanese descended citizens.

The only reason he was able to stay in power was because of the fact that he was in charge of a country at war. Its hard to hold elections when half your population is around the other side of the world.

  • @SKiiSMLIVE But he won his first 3 elections before the war even started, and yes his financial policies where not perfect, but that was the price of pulling the country out of a depression (its not cheap). It was only his last election that was during wartime, he won the first 3 because he was the better canidate (considering his opponent turned ressetion into depression). No one is perfect, but for US presidents, he is the closest thing there has been to it.

  • if i only had a fraction of the courage these men have. God Bless the Greatest Generation

  • Where can I locate this speech without the music? Does anybody know? Ive been looking for it all over and it seems like no website has it. Anybody know? It would be much appreciated. Thanks.

  • Is this speech somewhere without music?

  • Thank you for our freedom...

  • Mr. Roosevelt I wish you were here to guide us in these dark times.

  • I love this man...without doubt, one of the top 3 presidents of our country. To think he fought against Hitler and won. Hitler, the single greatest human evil to ever walk upon this earth. Churchill and Roosevelt will forever be the ultimate symbol of freedom and democracy.

  • If only these great men could see how the world has turned out, we're slaves to consumerism, our brothers and ourselves hunger, we march to not a clean world, but one contaminated by the very fascism that they once purged from this world. Liberalism defined by this great man, does not exist, only an empty future.

  • @hockeyboi84 +1

  • :')

  • if it wasnt for these men giving there lives we wouldn't be here today living the lives we live today let us not fight each other but give peace a chance to strive for a better tomorrow, god bless these men and there familys for all they gave

  • Something about FDR that made every speech of his just magnificent.

  • Every time I see these old WW2 footage, I wonder if those guys are still alive.

  • @21alt3go I hope so, I prefer their life rather than mine. They most likely lived through the greatest decade ever, the 1950's.

  • not the flag day address but the music.... it's called Mount legend...

  • best speech ever

  • where on extream music?

  • on w w w. extrememusic . c o m

It wouldn't let me post it with normal spacing

  • Now I know where the intro to WWII in HD comes from. Beautiful words. I always wondered, though. Why did they use THIS speech?

P.S. On the History Channel Documentary "Surviving the Andes Plane Crash", which premiered in October, they also use this song, called Mount Legend. you can find it

  • @mannymarotta oh thanks! :D

  • @mannymarotta i wondered the same, probably because after all of this time it is still incredibly relevant

  • @mannymarotta This is my favorite WW II Speech, you can feel it.

  • chills...

  • dose any one know where I can find his whole flag day address (in audio) i've look but can not find it anywhere?

  • 5*****
