The original was on radio, and then on tv in the 50s in black and white ... Later in colour. Very popular mainly because of the actress playing the beautiful Donalda...
@Stravinsky91. I just found the tv series on you tube and a couple of videos. One in black and white from the 1939 radio studio showing the original actors and music. The others are not as old and the series was Les belles histoires des pays d'en haut.
Tv series on Radio Canada, years ago...perhaps called Les belles histoires des pays d'en haut...there was also a movie but I don't think The Seasons was on the sound track. However, it definitely was on the tv series, on the French CBC.
Wonderful! This brings back memories from 50 years ago. This rendition is the best I have heard. The Scottish National Orchestra... The "Finale, Autumn'' was the theme for the most popular series "Seraphin, un homme et son péché'' in Québec, Canada. Small world, isn't it. Russian composer, Scottish orchestra. Great, great recording! Thank you so much bartje11 for sharing this.
Really GREAT rendition & recording of this! Great ork & conducting! I have this on a vinyl LP from years ago that is so beat up my needle skips and sometimes breaks. Can you post which ork? :) Cheers!
The Seasons is a masterpiece through and through-thank you for posting this, the final section from the Petit adagio to the exhilarating conclusion- full of action and nostalgia for the year (life) now coming to an end. Who was the conductor and orchestra?
