Thanks for taking a moment to do a photo with me! I know you were coming out of FTAC briefing but really appreciate it! You are amazing and I wish you all the best in life! God Bless,
it was great to hear you talk about this you are incredibly motivating, thank you for your service to our country and thank you for stopping by our FTAC class to share your story
Hello SrA Kolfage. I am TSgt Gomez from Hickam AFB Public Affairs in Hawaii, and I was contacting you because we would like a copy of your video to play at our upcoming AF Ball. Please contact me at 808-449-1522 so we can talk about the particulars of how I can obtain the video from you.
Just a heads up, the video will be played in front of a PACAF, 13 AF, and Hickam AFB Audience and I will make sure we get you the credit for creating the video. Thank you, and hope to hear from you soon.
Hi Brian... We are distant cousins..my grandmother's grandfather was Thomas Kolfage. Before my grandmother died, she saw your picture. She said you looked like one of her brothers... and you look like my son, Stephen. Drop me a line if you like. nancyj1318@aol.com
what's up brian! it's tomo from kaimuki high! tiz just found me on facebook and told me about you. mad respect! hope you see this message. do you have a facebook account?
Wow; Man; I'm just honored to be on the same planet as this man...
If this man's courage and determination doesn't humble and inspire, I don't know what possibly could. I don't know what else to say, except "Thank You" over and over and over for all you and others like you have done for all of us!
i am a wife of a soldier who is now a triple amputiee and to see all the amazing wonderful thing you guys can still do and to be alive and to just be his wife is all i can do.. i love being here by his side and to help him come through this fight is all i can do as a wife for him.. he is my rock and my heart and soul and im the blessed one to have him in my life. thank you both for what you have done.
I'm an Air Force surgical tech and was in the OR with him the day he was injured in Iraq. From what I saw that day to what I saw today on this video is truly remarkable! Just proves what grit and determination can do for you.
I was on Balad that day. We took a serious bombardment of mortars and SrA Kolfage had just got there. One of the Airman that i worked with and another SF airman came out and found Brian. It really hit home for all of us maintainers what the word sacrifice meant. Initially we were told he didn't make it. Later we launched the medivac out and were informed he made it. I have never forgotten his name nor forgotten that day. I am proud to have served with such an inspirational Airman.
Thank you for your service! On 11 Sep 04 we responded to a tragic incident at a tent in Iraq. I was part of the 332nd CASF at Balad Air Base the 1st medical responders on the scene that rushed SrA Kolfage to the hospital. We also loaded him on the plane to Germany. Helping SrA Kolfage changed my life forever. I've always wondered what happen to SrA Kolfage and how his recovery has been. Seeing his courage is inspiring. This video has touched me in a way that can't be explained. God Bless!
its cool to see him walking again, thats one area that i think cant get enough funding, prosphetic development. the legs hes got at 2:09 look seriously high tech! 2:40 and seeing him walking down the steps - wow!!!
Hey, thanks for your Service. My dad was an Air Force Security Police Officer in the Vietnam war. He served at tan Son nhut Air Base during tet of 68.
being able to walk being able to still be alive being abel to so still live a great life is a hero to me and everyone who ever steped foot on this earth im athiest but i can still say godbless you
His perseverance over adversity and positive demeanor is the definition of what it means to truly be alive. Thank you for this post that conjures a real perspective on what matters most.
its always refreshing to see a person overcome a tragedy with an attitude of persevereance rather than one of woe is me. i think this country and its directors could take a few notes from this video.
Kolfage, I remember chilling with you back on Goodfellow and when I heard what happened I hoped nothing but the best for you and by seeing this video just shows me that you never lost a step.... Thats what I admired most about you Brian your confidence and your willingness to never let anything hold you back not matter the obstacle.... I'm glad to see your doing great man take care
alot of people dont think airman are put in harms way. many of us have done things in Iraq /Afghanistan that could have resulted in this so in that respect its kinda sobering.
I want to meet Brian so bad i've met his dad but to meet him would be amazing the courage and determination of him to be able to walk it is just amazing and a inspiration
i am in the dep for the usaf and put down security forces on my list of jobs. I would just like to say after watching this video it makes me proud to serve after a hero like airman Kolfage, i will fight for freedom so his family and other veterans can be safe. Thank you SRA kolfage and god bless.
Watching this brought tears to my eyes. This transition must have been devastating to him and his family, but he does have his life and he looks so happy and is doing so well. I'm in AWE!!! A friend who is very near and dear to my heart just left a few weeks ago for a one year in Iraq. I worry about him constantly. I salute you, Brian, and your family for the sacrifice you've made. My your family always be blessed!
You know, sometimes soldiers and marines joke about airmen. I'm sure you've heard the remarks, "Chairborne Rangers," "Geek Squad," etc. You are a living example that it doesn't matter how you serve your country; when you sign that contract and raise your right hand, you are putting yourself in harm's way to protect our nation regardless of your branch of service.
Thank you for your service and your sacrifice, Airman Kolfage.
I wish I could put to words how that video made me feel... As someone who is learning to walk again after breaking both my legs in a motorcycle accident I still can't say I know how you feel, but I can say you make me proud to be an Airman, and an American.
You have shown the strength of 10 men. You are indeed a Hero.
Brian, you are an amazing person and an inspiration to all you see this video. Thank you for the sacrifices you have made for our country! May God continue to do great and mighty things in your life!!
That boy lost both his legs and his right hand...that truly does suck...but I'm very thankful that he's able to walk and smile again...it's very inspiring.
War is a terrible thing but at the same time, nothing is more inspiring for me than stories such as these
Thank you, Brian *salutes*
In just three weeks, I go to Ft Benning, Georgia for training...starting off small, in the Army Reserves but eventually going far into the military. It'd be cool to meet this guy one day.
