@munishjindal it all depends on if your tied to a carrier or not on the price. As for software benefit loss there are not many the 3gs to 4 is mainly a hardware upgrade.

@badgirlsclubfan4life You will most likely have to download it the first time you sync with your computer. First thing you will do is plug it in so you can sync music, photos and such from your system...before you do that Im sure the update button will have iOS4 available. If you want my opinion If you have the money go for the iPhone4. Faster, better cameras, HD video, bigger longer lasting battery. :)
Is your iPhone 3Gs the 32gb version? My iPhone 3Gs 16gb version is now running version 4.1. The problem is my iPhone is kinda sluggish when doing stuff. Like when I swipe the springboard from page to page. Its so sluggish and it looks so ugly lol. I compared it to my cousin's 32gb version, and it was so smooth, way smoother. Is there anyway to fix it and make it smooth again? Or does the 32gb version have better ram or whatever than the 16gb? Please reply :) Thanks. :D
@ardienator My 3GS is only 16gb. You could be running into speed issues do to the amount of apps you have installed on your phone. Id suggest clearing out all the apps you dont actually use on a regular basis. the 16gb and 32gb have the same amount of RAM the only diff is the storage. also try resetting it now and then hold down your lock and home button till it turns off and you see the apple logo again then let go!
@ardienator I have the same problem. My iphone 3gs is the 32gb version, and i have like 20gb of space left. It seems toi depend on what background you have. On some backgrounds, it seems a bit rough scrolling through the springboard pages. However, on other background it seems just fine. Change your background and give it a go. Any differences? @nazo360 Actually no...this video is a bit dated and was from the day the iOS4 was released...they have since resolved most problems....not all apps had been updated to fully support the new features of multitasking but have by now...so you should be good to go! Thanks for the comment.... :)

@nazo360 Well till they release a newer update this will be the firmware they have available...but keep in mind this video was mad on iOS 4.0 we now have 4.1! With lots of bug fixes and improvements!

@red20ro Keep in mind this was an iPhone that has had ALOT of use and also I had the brightness pumped up for the demo....I will say that the iPhone 4 has much better battery life due to its larger battery! :)
@Draxicor Im sure there are...however I have not found any! The iOS4.1 update fixes a few of the performance issues that were an issue for the 3G and seems pretty snappy on the 3GS as well. I think its well worth the update. :)

@shawn1995roolzdood For starters I would not recommend upgrading a 3G to iOS4....its very very slow and you dont get half of the benifits. No multitasking, is one major thing. The 3G is just not fast enough. I had upgraded my 3G and decided to down grade it back to 3.1.4!!

@rocket88100 the iPhone 3G's (not 3GS) are a bit slower when jailbroken IMO....espicially on 4.0. but yeah you would have to update, and then re-jailbreak, first time i used JailbreakMe, which sucked...plus its not compatible with 4.0.2 anyways, so i would go with redsn0w (latest version), It was a little difficult at first during the setup process because I had to manually enter DFU mode, but once i got it going the install of the jailbreak was pretty quick. hope this helps.

@metalmaster014 I think the iPhone 4 is far superior of a device than the 3gs. Faster proc, better networking, dual cameras, HD video, LED light, AMAZING screen to name a few....I also love the design. Other then the antenna issue but a case will solve that prob & you want a case anyway to give it better grip when holding it.

@darkcyrx There are ALOT of good new features with iOS4! Spellcheck, zoom in camera, tap to focus in video and camera, new inbox features and organization, multitasking, folders, web search from spotlight...just to name a few. :)

@GeekwGlasseslive yes thats a great feature BUT that doesnt beat the ones that a jailbroken 3gs does. the tweaks ran faster eats less memory, proc and specially the multitasking. folders only hold 12 apps. the background wallpaper feature cant beat bosspaper. since jailbreaking is now legal id still love a 3gs on 3.1.3 BUT if i get my iphone4 then thats a different story.

iOS4 multitasking is retarded. I don't understand why they made it so that every app you close is automatically sent to multitask, it should be like a special function not the primary function. To close an app, you have to press the home button, then open up multitasking and end it. Backgrounder is way better, to multitask something, you HOLD the button. Makes sense. Saves battery and CPU.

My phone had no problems at all before ios4, now problems is all I have. It heats up so bad, you can't hold it. The battery life is so bad, you can watch it drop each minute. After using my 90$ gps (navigon) app to get from my house to San Francisco (40 min), my phone was so hot i thought it would explode. It was plugged into my car and not charging, but decreasing instead. A plugged in symbol on the bat

@masirros7 When you plug your phone in with itunes running the first thing it does during a sync is a backup...you will see it in the display on itunes
@masirros7 Nope...do a backup first. Then update, then when the update is done you do a restore from your backup and its exactly the same as it was before the update. All settings, apps and data is restored. !

@jameszambie You do not need to remove the sim...this is an official update from apple. It is free and it will not lock your phone up. Do a backup before you start then update...then restore from back up to get your phone back up and running. :)

@dgabel59 The 3G does not have enough power to give you multitasking, why you cant set a wallpaper im not sure. However you did get some other features like all in one mail box, spell check, web search from your search screen and some other features. How come your downloads took so long>!?

@slsharkey Hmm...thats odd that you dont have the system util app. Have you tried a hard reset of the phone. Hold down the home and lock keys till the phone shuts down and restarts, let go when you see the apple logo come back on. Let me know what happens.
wow it is so great, all this time i tried to find a web that can change my themes and backgrounds...now i don't have to! the only thing i hate is that my ringtones are only 21 sec tops i can't mack it more,and the sms tone, for that i have to crack my iphone...sucks!

@shawn1995roolzdood For starters I would not recommend upgrading a 3G to iOS4....its very very slow and you dont get half of the benifits. No multitasking, is one major thing. The 3G is just not fast enough. I had upgraded my 3G and decided to down grade it back to 3.1.4!!

@rocket88100 the iPhone 3G's (not 3GS) are a bit slower when jailbroken IMO....espicially on 4.0. but yeah you would have to update, and then re-jailbreak, first time i used JailbreakMe, which sucked...plus its not compatible with 4.0.2 anyways, so i would go with redsn0w (latest version), It was a little difficult at first during the setup process because I had to manually enter DFU mode, but once i got it going the install of the jailbreak was pretty quick. hope this helps.

@metalmaster014 I think the iPhone 4 is far superior of a device than the 3gs. Faster proc, better networking, dual cameras, HD video, LED light, AMAZING screen to name a few....I also love the design. Other then the antenna issue but a case will solve that prob & you want a case anyway to give it better grip when holding it.

@darkcyrx There are ALOT of good new features with iOS4! Spellcheck, zoom in camera, tap to focus in video and camera, new inbox features and organization, multitasking, folders, web search from spotlight...just to name a few. :)

@GeekwGlasseslive yes thats a great feature BUT that doesnt beat the ones that a jailbroken 3gs does. the tweaks ran faster eats less memory, proc and specially the multitasking. folders only hold 12 apps. the background wallpaper feature cant beat bosspaper. since jailbreaking is now legal id still love a 3gs on 3.1.3 BUT if i get my iphone4 then thats a different story.

@ashwingayu During the upgrade proc it will create a back up and then restore after the new OS is installed...you will loose nothing!

iOS4 multitasking is retarded. I don't understand why they made it so that every app you close is automatically sent to multitask, it should be like a special function not the primary function. To close an app, you have to press the home button, then open up multitasking and end it. Backgrounder is way better, to multitask something, you HOLD the button. Makes sense. Saves battery and CPU.

Doing so has eviscerated my 3GS.
My phone had no problems at all before ios4, now problems is all I have. It heats up so bad, you can't hold it. The battery life is so bad, you can watch it drop each minute. After using my 90$ gps (navigon) app to get from my house to San Francisco (40 min), my phone was so hot i thought it would explode. It was plugged into my car and not charging, but decreasing instead. A plugged in symbol on the bat

@masirros7 Nope...do a backup first. Then update, then when the update is done you do a restore from your backup and its exactly the same as it was before the update. All settings, apps and data is restored. !

@jameszambie You do not need to remove the sim...this is an official update from apple. It is free and it will not lock your phone up. Do a backup before you start then update...then restore from back up to get your phone back up and running. :)

@dgabel59 The 3G does not have enough power to give you multitasking, why you cant set a wallpaper im not sure. However you did get some other features like all in one mail box, spell check, web search from your search screen and some other features. How come your downloads took so long>!?

your video was alot of help but I have 2 questions i'm hoping you can answer - first I don't have the utilities icon your talking about so how do I get that to appear and second my phone is constantly "searching" (the icon up in the left hand corner is checking every few seconds - I made sure I don't have anything open so i'm not sure whats going on. @slsharkey Hmm...thats odd that you dont have the system util app. Have you tried a hard reset of the phone. Hold down the home and lock keys till the phone shuts down and restarts, let go when you see the apple logo come back on. Let me know what happens.
