You asked how id survive a zombie attack. Well. My family would most probably want to stay here so id pick up my best mate... then get my other best mate who lives a long way away from here. If take the countryside route to his house as the motorway is unsafe. Then when i get to his, he just so happens to have one of the best shopping centres in the UK and stay there until it blowws over. If it doesnt then by the time im 20 we'll make a move to try and find somewere else.
I loved Diaries of the Dead, Zombie Apocalypse with new social media mixed in.
This one... unstructured Chaos, characters not holding to their principles in the story... just complete idiocy by characters made completely unbelievable.
Dissapointed... so dissapointed... What happened Romero.... Diaries was awesome.. this...o
Good review and I have to agree for the most part. I liked Dairies. Even though it had that B-movie feel, which I like in a grindhouse way, there was a lot that was fresh about Diaries. You really got to like that girl and if view all the side characters as side characters to her experience than it works. Survival didn`t have any strong characters. The Irish accent`s seemed outlandish and the feud theme was horrid. The base theme (training) was from Day of the Dead, but not nearly as good.
i dont like that the movie has too much humor i mean dawn of the dead had just the right humor without over doing it but this movie over does it by having slap stick zombies they might as well just have 3 dumb ass brother fight the zombies

i liked the movie and laughed so much especially the last scene, how the father ignores the 1 daughter when the zombies stop eating people and she tries to tell him and when the sister bite the sister and she says bitch lol.
The way i would survive a zombie holocaust is to follow the plan in dawn of the dead, make a mall into a fortress, block off the entrances with big trucks then kill all the remaining zombies inside, then you'll have all the supplies you need without having to move around and risk gettin bit daily. Only thing you gotta worry about if it works is biker gangs and such.
I totally agree, the first time I saw Dawn I did have that hair standing on the back of my neck intense kind of fright, and boarding up in a shopping mall is how I would try to survive during a zombie apocalypse. You felt the emotion in the actors faces, especially Peter, which helped getting involed with the characters survival.
Just saw the film, twice in a row. Overall, it's a good movie. What really leaves me hanging is character development. It would have been better if they hadn't have brought in interestering characters or hinted at a complex back story, instead of introducing a few and then forgetting about explaining what was hinted at.
I have to say Romero is a well recieved director in his own right, but his time has passed for sure. Land of the Dead was good Diary was sub-par at best and since Survival was limited to selected theaters for a week (which might as well be a straight to video release), it has made this obvious pattern a steady downward slope. I haven't even seen Survival yet so i cannot even comment on this film with any valid opinions, however i had my doubts about this film since it clearly was lacking effort.
I agree. Survival of the Dead would fit in perfectly back then in the era of Day of the Dead, The Crazies, etc. but for 2010 it's honestly quite repetitive and boring. We've seen all this before done better. I think if Romero actually took some time to study other horror/thriller films of this time period, and incorporated it into his style (maybe hire a new choreographer) he could make one hell of a movie. But if he continues the way he's going, fast zombies will take over popular media!
To survive a zombie apocalypse, you have to get as far away from the living as possible, because they will end up being the dead. Be well supplied, and always have a definite plan, because the living are more dangerous than the dead. Also, know how to dig a latrine.
Anyone who thinks they can survive with some beef jerky and a shotgun would be the first to go, if not being surrounded because of underestimating the masses of undead, then from friendly fire from another shotgun-wielding idiot.
his zombies arnt "pure" they cant run, think, talk, survive there heads getting severed, or tamed, and hes had all that in his films,
id survive a zombie apocalypse but going from very small town , to very small town killing zombies and looting, picking up survivors till we had enough people to take over a small town and id do shit like that till i had new york and mayne cleaned out of any zombies
if you had a large group of people, there would be arguments and with all the anarchy people would start shooting each other, and cleaning out New York would take decades.
And think about all the other people who would try and loot places. I bet some of them wouldn't want any competition.
Realistic Zombie movies aren't about dealing with the dead, there about dealing with the living.
and yes even though you think your the first to think of those situations your not i was just making a point about zombies and if it were real i would get a riot shield and a crowbar an kick the shit out of zeds till i die cause if you think about it there is no point living anyways so id take out as many as possible before i die
@grimmenigma949 and i was talking about you thinking you could just "i could make a shitload of money" by taking over New York(practically impossible). WHO would pay you? And do you think anyone would still be using money? They'd be bartering! And you complained about zombies surviving their heads getting chopped off. You have to destroy their brain! real zombies are dead, not like 28 days later shit.
Dont. Anyone who loves george a romero and is thinking about actually paying to see this, please stop. unless you can get it at red box for a dollar. its horrible.
Romero is without a doubt the godfather of the zombie genre. But Land, Diary, and Survival of the Dead left a lot to desire. I agree entirely Fury, Romero just hasnt evolved his style. By this stage, Romero should have explored the cause and not the solution of the zombies.
Here's how i would survive Fury, ill take a 200 pack of beer, a sniper, and unlimited bullets for it, and shoot off my roof for years to come, thats the f****** life!
I am a George A. Romero fan and I really like all the films that I have seen by the man. His zombies are always very creepy looking in some way and the makeup on the zombies in some of his newer films is good. I would really hate to say that his newer movies aren't that great, but I can see what some of you guys are saying. His newer movies like Land of The Dead, Diary of The Dead are good but they are lacking something, and they just can't compare to Night of The Living Dead.
I'd say that you where very generous with this movie, because I was predicting the No Fury Award. I love Romero's early work, but as of late all of his films and project have sucked so much.
As a Dead fan (and as a fan of your's, of course) I have to say I think you're being a little generous. I rate on a scale ranging from 0 - 5 and Survival barely scored a 2. Since I'm a Romero fan I will probably see this film anyway. At least from your review it sounds better then Diary of the Dead.
How would I survive a zombie outbreak? Easy, move to a city in the Northwest Territories or Alaska. I mean how long are zombies going to be able to move in minus 40 degree C weather. The zombies would be frozen till summer, so thats 3 seasons where you can just go out side with a sledgehammer and ensure the zombies will not be coming after you in summer.
how would i survive a zombie outbreak well i got three samurai swords that i know how to use so close combat aint no problem long ranged i suck with guns but a good hunting rifle would be no problem i have an underground basement area that's perfect for hiding out and i'm faster than most of the friends i no so zombiebait anyone
@Semp314 basements are bad news. If they overrun your house and you hole up in the basement, even if you can hole them off, you'll die when your supplies run out. Or when you give up and shank yourself with one of those nifty katanas.
The thing is Romero can direct great films that aren't zombie films like 'The Dark Half', but he just sticks to the zombie films these days which is annoying because when he tries he can excell at other types of film.
I would armor myself with thick clothing to protect vital areas from zombie bites well carrying heavy blunt instruments for protection. Avoiding cities I would stick to small urban ares where there would be less threat of large zombie infestations. There would seemingly be strength in numbers but would exist the extra threat of someone becoming infected. Paranoia and violence from uninfected humans would be my greatest threat
I thought the same thing just from seeing the trailer. I'm not sure if its because the shooting medium is now digital, or the style is now somewhat uninspired, but I didn't think there was much separating this film from the other zombie flicks in the dollar bin. Some will disagree, but bear in mind that i have still not seen the film.
@themetalhead667 why would I get upset you didn't insult me. Romero is a legend there is no denying that but his new stuff is not very good. you talking about something hes done in the 70's and its 2010 hes still making films that feel like they belong in the 70s. it just hasn't worked that well. land, diary and survival of the dead are his weakest dead films.
@FuryoftheFilmFan I was worried I might rub you the wrong way by saying you were ignorant of non of the dead romero movies. (ideas in comments in often do not translate well)
Romero is a legend and night of the living dead, dawn of the dead and day of the dead were great films for the 70s cos zombies hadnt been done yet...dawn of the dead was epic.
I dxont like his stuff these days...land of the dead was trash...zombie diaries was ok but you just expect so much more from the king of zombie flicks...its always a let-down
A very good movie review. Even though Survival of the Dead bombed and had poor reviews, I thought it was a far superior watch compared to the abysmal Diary of the Dead.
Great review! I like a lot of Romero's work, but I gotta agree with you. His recent attempts have been spotty at best. Land of the Dead was passable, but Diary of the Dead felt unwatchable. I haven't seen Survival & I'll give it a chance, but after his last two dead films, I'm going in with low expectations.
Hey Fury, Huge Romero fan here but can you help me out? I've lost the timeline with his last two films.
Okay it goes Night, Dawn, Day and Land. But Diary of the Dead is ment to take place at the same time as Night, which can only mean survival takes place after Night but before Dawn. And yet they're using Iphones and Laptops. Any Ideas?
Is there a movie that picks off where diary of the dead left off? ...help!!!

Any Ideas?
