Every year the team down south comes up with some lame ass slogan having to do with their sense of entitlement. Look guys, you won a NC in '84 when the champ was voted for. You played a crappy 6-5 Michigan team. So you walk around with these retarded slogans "Fully Invested" and "Quest for Perfection" Lets face it Cougs. You guys are never going to do what Utah has done. The funniest part about this commercial is that they finally have a slogan that fits them. "We are BYU" yup you are. good work
If I recall correctly, BYU knocked off the number three team in the nation last night. BYU might never do what UTAH has done but they're sure as hell heading the right way
We'll see where the "#3" team in the preseason polls ends up at the end of the season. Of course when you lose 54-28 to an unranked Florida State team at home that's kind of depressing isn't it.
If i do remeber correctly Utah used the "quest of perfection" slogan as well. Sure they did it but I guess it's a retarded slogan. so probably shouldn't insult a team if the team you cheer for is using the same slogan. It's like your insulting the team you cheer for.....kind of retarded
ya who's slogen is now "the quest has been perfected" hmm you... sounds so familiar maybe utah should learn how to use collage skills and come up with something on thier own.
Haha the classic uneducated, the quest for perfection.... its actually for personal perfection, to make a better person of yourself. Dont know whats so funny about that.
A football team has all this hype about goin undefeated then there motto is the Quest for Perfection. Sure it might have partially been about personal perfection, but a lot of it had to do with going undefeated on the football field.
Yes, I agree that some people misinterpreted it. But the "slogan" came out before anyone had the hype of going undefeated. It originally was for personal perfection, but with all the talk of going undefeated it ruined the real reason behind the slogan. A little off topic, isn't every teams "quest" to go undefeated? Any ways, Im a cougar fan, but I've never been a big fan of the slogans. I only liked the "Fully Invested" because it looked the coolest haha.
I noticed that you only showed clips from the SDSU and UCLA games.... two of the easiest teams on your cupcake schedule last year. What happened to TCU, Utah, and the almighty Arizona Wildcats? Or the unwinnable Washington Huskies, whom you needed the help from a ref to get past? Pathetic.
GO UTES! We'll be looking to leave you pussy cats in the dust yet another year.
Does your mommy know you get on the computer when she's not looking and speak like that? Better yet... does your bishop know? Tsk tsk you should repent.
As a BYU fan, I can accept the fact that we lost to TCU and Utah. They were the better teams in '08 and we were on their field. But there was no excuse for losing to Arizona.
That said, don't get your hopes up for this year pal. Unlike last season, most of Utah's toughest games are on the road - including in Provo where BYU hasn't lost in three straight years. The Utes will have to depend on their defense since most of their offense is gone, as well as their most valuable weapon - Sakoda.
Our defense is even better than it was last year, and defense wins championships. Do I think we're going to win a Mountain West title again? Maybe. Do I think Utah will finish ahead of BYU? Definitely. Defense was where Utah excelled last year. They were in the top 10 in overall defense last year, and we have even more talent on that side of the ball. It's not a stretch to say Utah will have at least a 10 win season, with maybe a loss to Oregon, and a loss at TCU.
How in the hell do you know if your defense is better than last year? They haven't even played their first game yet. Not to mention the fact they lost Kruger and Smith. Their defense will keep them in games but it won't necessarily win championships. And what's your basis for claiming they will finish ahead of BYU? Utah has to travel to both BYU and TCU. BYU gets both Utah and TCU at home. If there is a team that might finish ahead of BYU in the MWC this year, it's TCU. Not Utah.
In my opinion, it will either end up 1 - Utah/TCU 2 - Utah/TCU 3 - BYU. How can I say they'll be better? Because they return a very good number of defensive starters, and have extremely talented reserves coming up to fill the slots. What's my basis for saying they'll finish ahead of BYU? BYU will suffer losses at the hands of the Utes and Horned Frogs.
Sure about that? BYU is going to be lucky to be ranked 3rd by season end in the MWC. You have no line to protect a QB that struggles when being blitzed. As well as no defense. I hope I'm wrong though, I want BYU to do good to benefit the conference. But beating TCU and Utah is a long shot, not so much Utah because its usually a close game. So is the season opener against OU. FSU is pretty much a toss up game on who wins that one. My prediction, BYU has at least a 4 loss season.
Playing Oklahoma on the road is one thing. Playing TCU and Utah at home is another. TCU will definitely be tough but BYU will be looking for major payback. And the Utes? They have no offense. A brand new QB. New offensive and defensive coordinators. No Louie Sakoda. Who the hell are you kidding?
No offense? Who the hell are you kidding, that is the question. We lost our QB, yeah thats a tough replacement, no doubt. But no offense? Really? We're running the same offense basically. The only point you have is the QB situation.
The D is Whittinghams D. All Gary Anderson did was do what Whitt told him to do. You have no point there...
I'll be back after BYU has 3 or 4 losses to tell ya I told ya so. While Utah will have 2 at most.
Good luck to you're Cougs on Saturday, they'll need it
You lost a lot more than your QB on offense. And like I said, at least as important as losing Johnson was the fact that you lost Sakoda on special teams. He saved your butts many times.
BYU with 3 or 4 losses? Don't think so. And what losses we do have will likely come from our non-conference games. Not from hosting both Utah and TCU at home. The Utes, meanwhile, have to travel to both BYU and TCU, both of which will be looking for major payback.
You think BYU beating TCU and Utah on their field (where they haven't lost in three years) is a long shot. But let me guess, you think the depleted Utes have a stellar chance of beating BYU and TCU on the road? LOL.
Notice I said BYU has a long shot at beating TCU this year. Utah not so much because its always a steller game. But BYU losing all thier line and having so many close games to mediocre teams last season... come on.
Why doesn't Utah have a chance to beat both teams on the road? Utah has lost once to TCU since they joined the MWC.
Utah won't lose to BYU this year. The TCU/Utah game could define the MWC champ for 2009.
There is no reason to think Utah will beat BYU this year. BYU lost some players, but Utah lost far more. Plus a lot of their coaching staff. On top of that, Utah has to play BYU in Provo, where BYU hasn't lost in three straight years. The only thing that could change things if BYU loses key people to injuries. The defining game will be BYU/TCU, not TCU/Utah. TCU, BYU, and Utah have been picked to finish in that order. You are not looking at this objectively.
Can't argue there. We were slaughtered. Three times this has happened to us in three years, where one team just caught us like a deer in the headlights. Tulsa in 2007, TCU last year, and now FSU. Hopefully we can rebound and still go 12-1.
I think losing 48-24 to Utah and to a 5th place PAC-10 team in your bowl game would make that list too. I think you have a few more surprises waiting for you this year. The secondary was once again exposed
And like I said before, BYU's losses are most likely to come from it's non-conference play. BYU has a pretty tough schedule this season while Utah's is pretty soft.
No, no, I agree with you completely. BYU has a really tough schedule, while Utah's may not be as tough. BYU has 4 key games to start the season. Utah has 3 to start the season and depending on how Louisville does that may be a tough team as well. BYU has OU, FSU, TCU, UTAH. While Utah has UO, TCU, BYU. If BYU can have a better D and as good of a line as last year, I'd reconsider. But I just don't see it happening for 'em.
And another thing. You were talking about how BYU "needed" the refs to get past Washington? That was a legitimate call. Utah needed the refs to get past Oregon State. Or did you forget that VERY QUESTIONABLE pass interference call on Oregon St. in the endzone that gave Utah a fresh set of downs? The ball goes speeding by and the ref doesn't do anything for a good 2-3 seconds. But then throws the flag after the Ute fans started yelling at him.
It was a legitimate call? Leave it to a BYU fan to confuse rules. Pity. I actually am surprised I got into a debate with zoobies. No excuse on my part to argue with a group of individuals who are told how to think.
Uh yes, it was a legitimate call. The ref even talked about it himself on ESPN after the game. It's in the rule book. People just whined and moaned because they were rooting for Washington, or in your case, against BYU. Know what the hell you're talking about or don't bother posting. And while I'm at it, how about you go post on Ute videos instead of trolling BYU ones.
