As a BYU fan, I can accept the fact that we lost to TCU and Utah. They were the better teams in '08 and we were on their field. But there was no excuse for losing to Arizona.

That said, don't get your hopes up for this year pal. Unlike last season, most of Utah's toughest games are on the road - including in Provo where BYU hasn't lost in three straight years. The Utes will have to depend on their defense since most of their offense is gone, as well as their most valuable weapon - Sakoda.

Our defense is even better than it was last year, and defense wins championships. Do I think we're going to win a Mountain West title again? Maybe. Do I think Utah will finish ahead of BYU? Definitely. Defense was where Utah excelled last year. They were in the top 10 in overall defense last year, and we have even more talent on that side of the ball. It's not a stretch to say Utah will have at least a 10 win season, with maybe a loss to Oregon, and a loss at TCU.

Sure about that? BYU is going to be lucky to be ranked 3rd by season end in the MWC. You have no line to protect a QB that struggles when being blitzed. As well as no defense. I hope I'm wrong though, I want BYU to do good to benefit the conference. But beating TCU and Utah is a long shot, not so much Utah because its usually a close game. So is the season opener against OU. FSU is pretty much a toss up game on who wins that one. My prediction, BYU has at least a 4 loss season.

No, no, I agree with you completely. BYU has a really tough schedule, while Utah's may not be as tough. BYU has 4 key games to start the season. Utah has 3 to start the season and depending on how Louisville does that may be a tough team as well. BYU has OU, FSU, TCU, UTAH. While Utah has UO, TCU, BYU. If BYU can have a better D and as good of a line as last year, I'd reconsider. But I just don't see it happening for 'em.

And another thing. You were talking about how BYU "needed" the refs to get past Washington? That was a legitimate call. Utah needed the refs to get past Oregon State. Or did you forget that VERY QUESTIONABLE pass interference call on Oregon St. in the endzone that gave Utah a fresh set of downs? The ball goes speeding by and the ref doesn't do anything for a good 2-3 seconds. But then throws the flag after the Ute fans started yelling at him.
