4 years before this t rex vs the spiders....some people thought that Mark was a better musician than David....Proof that David is the better artist? 1976...He was beginning the recording of "low" and producing Iggy Pop's dreamy sarcastic masterpiece the idiot while Bolan was doing the same reharshed boogie once again....Bowie owns...genious
@basqu01 i sent a mac bolan clip (nterview with russell harty) to my sister and she expressed similar sentiments. she said "why does he remind me of johnny depp"..maybe its their soft,shy-like mannerisms.?
@basqu01 would be cool..dont think it would happen because i dont think thay no who owns the rights to hes astate hes son gets fuck all from hes record sells to this day he sign it all over to hes managers in hes hay day ...druged up didnt no what he was doing i surpose...but the movie would be cool to watch
Critically he was a spent force by 1974. He still came up withe goods though. His final album, Dandy in the Underworld, made the Top 30, and the Damned supported him in early 1977. He had his own TV show in autumn 1977, he had a young son, a perfect lady partner. And then, as happens in life. Bang. It was all gone. His music is here forever though.
Your absolutely right there.I would even say that TANX was his last really great work in 1973 and he was a spent force from then on, mostly because he couldn't cope with waning fame due to his ego.His fatal decision to split not only with his wife but also long time friend and producer Tony Visconti got him to the point where he sold his soul just to hang on to sucess. For me the things he did after '73 where just pathetic and embarrasing for a talent like him.
You can tell he was aware here of the emerging punk scene, there's a back to basics feel about it like he'd been listening to Dr Feelgood & the younger groups of the time.
@ellL. Poor bloke is dead! Really bad news. If he was still around think how much better the music could be. Today's is total shit. How many will still be remembered in 30 years time. NONE OF THEM. They are all effing wankers today.
Is that John Entwhistle playing bass??

Il jouait dans une autre catégorie.
S'il n'avait pas eu cet accident, il aurait ressorti de grands disques.

I don't remember Marc Bolan with that hairstyle. And I think I only know this song from the film 'Billy Elliot'.

@kirkwallboy did glam die or just absorbed into other forms? bolan's energy here feels like late period elvis.

@edmame agreed, but he put on a lot of weight and had hit coke and food
