Sabrinaeden - you are mistaken. I have been tuning and repairing harmoniums professionally for 15 years. There is always a reciprocal bellows on any harmonium. The only difference between a dulcetina and regular harmonium is that the reciprocal bellows is on the outside where you can see it.
This is a Dulcetina. All harmoniums have two bellows but usually you don't see the reciprocal bellows because it is inside the harmoniums. Good Dulcetinas are hard to come by and ones that support a whole chord and not just single notes, (like in the video) are expensive. Keshav Music in NYC carries these.
What I'm saying is that there isn't a reciprocal bellows inside a harmonium as you say there is here - rather, there is a wind-chest. The Dulcetina uses reciprocal bells rather an internal wind-chest, as with a shruti box. And accordions don't have wind-chests, just a bellows, which is why sound stops when you stop pumping.
Ebay. Around $250 US + God/Allah/Brahma knows how much to ship it from India... They even have neat, electronic, drum machines for US$100... Still going to spend my Muzik instrument money on a KORG, but I love seeing these musical insruments. Wish they still made "Hurdy Gurdys"...
Look up "MRIDANGA TALAM~ELECTRONIC MRIDANGAM MANJIRA~TABLA~SITAR" or just "Harmonium" on Ebay under the "Musical Instruments" category!!! These are WOW! I want one:-)
Yes you can buy stuff from India and it's a good idea - if you like getting ripped off and sent rubbish. Indian music shops shipping the Europe and the USA invariably ship out the worst, shoddy tourist crap because they know it's so expensive to ship it back to India that trying to get a refund becomes pointless
To you guys that think that there are two bellows. The way that harmoniums work is that there is a pump to make air pressure and storage to hold the pressure between strokes. The rear bellow is the pump and the front bellow is the air storage.
That's why they invented the accordion because this instrument is useless.

Two bellows? A wind-chest surely??
sabrinaeden 2 years ago
Sabrinaeden - that it should have a windchest goes without saying. All harmoniums, accordians pump organs etc. have windchests.
