i also would not recommend this fan unless ur gpu or cpu are in the middle of the computer, you just end up balancing it and eventually the legs break
Alright, So, I own this, I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT! I bought it and, in the first week it burnt out! I got another, and within 2 weeks of use, 3 of the blades broke off! DO NOT BUY THIS IT IS A WASTE!
is it noisy? i'm planing to get one for my pavilion due to i switch the hp cool sense to quiet mode to keep the fans at the lowest noise as possible so i can to work in library and during class this works but your laptop warms a little bit more than regular heat
They are always hot. Gaming on them without a cooling pad, it WILL kill your Pavillion. The thermal glue will melt off and ruin the computer. Mine was always running very hot...like 80 Celcius or more.. I've had cooling pad under my new Pavillion, and all it does is prolong the inevitable. Just buy another laptop that is not from the Pavillion line.
@SeberHusky Hi, if there is an cooling pad, then how can something melt in your laptop, beceause cooling pad "cool's" it. Im not saying you are worng, i dont know anything about that i am just asking you if it is bad or good to use that.
Dude, you need to get to the point. This review does not need to be over 7 minutes long. People do not want to listen to you stall for time and say the same thing over and over again. And FYI, it's "review of," not "review on." Just some pointers. Cheers.

Update: I just returned this cooling pad, and I bought another one from Target that looks alot like it. It is created by Microsoft, and it is on sale for 15 bucks. The cooling pad looks like a cheap imitation of Belkin, but somehow it looks and feel much better. I was surprised how well it works, and the stand is incredible. I believe Belkin brand is much more sturdier and the fan is stronger but so far I am happy with what I bought. Oh yeah, it also has a 3 year limitless warranty. Nice.
What the fuck is wrong with this cooling pad? I just got it for 3 days, and it stopped working. The air blows very strong, but I can't figure out why it isn't working. All I did was replug it back in and it just stopped working. WTF.
lol HP, what a horrible brand, the only computer that I know that overheats without ANY overclocking whatsoever. unless they come up with something as innovative as the Iphone, I will NEVER buy another hp.
The cooling pad is very light. So I can take it anywhere. I did find that it kept my laptop cool.
However today, it just stopped working. I tried calling Belkin support, but the recording says that the number is disconnected. I only had the cooling pad for 5 months now. I'm pretty disappointed about the product.
@XxTwiztdSkaterxX i am playing games in good speed but just for 15 mint after 15 mints games gone slow =_= someone said its head problem buy a cooling pad but i m not sure if i buy it and games will be same what u think???
@WaseemDarkness The person who told you it's a heat problem was right. I had the same problem with games on my laptop and it was caused by the cpu heating due to the thermal compound which ran out.
I have a question about this fan. I have the same exact laptop as you, and with the cooling pad I have now, it is seem to be too small for this laptop, is this fan a good size for this laptop? The fan I have now is dimensions 15.5 x 10.7 x 2.7. Is this one any bigger?
I have one of these and I modded mine. I cut down the small gap that you put your finger in to open so now its a hole. I allows me to use the chill pad on my lap without trying to balance it on my legs. Also the only problem I have ever had is that sometimes when i turn it on for a min or 2 its alot louder than normal but it fades away pretty quick.
my laptop was geting really hot but i found out what caused this...the power options was set to high performance...after i set to balanced it starts to cool down...then i use notebook hardware control to see the temperature and when i play games cpu is 55-60*C and HD is 42*C (sry for bad english)
Hmm, you seem to have the same laptop as me, the hp pavilion dv6500 series. Would you or anyone else recommend this or the aluminum antec cooler? I'm still undecided since my vents are all located in the top left corner of the lappy and intake is on the bottom. Both are similarly priced.
yo i just picked this up from the source, works like a charm, just had one question though, i dont mind sacrificing the noise for the stability of the laptop, i can live with that, but wanted to ask if the fan dies if i use it for extended period of time? I game a lot, so im on more then 5 hours continuous. Does the fan deplete its energy or die for continuous use or am i good to game with this fan underneath my laptop?
@993ironman the fan should hold up pretty well, i leave my laptop on 24/7 and a whole week no problems i turn it off on occasions but the fan is holding up well, some say that it dies on them after a months use but i never had that problem...
@XxTwiztdSkaterxX ah ok, by the way, do you mean keeping it on as in putting it on a sleep state? I put my laptop on sleep more often then i turn it off for some extended time.
@XxTwiztdSkaterxX I saw this on best buy, but i hesitate to buy because it's only one fan.. I have a really old laptop and the fan inside the laptop is a little damage, so I need an external fan to let my laptop cool 24/7.. I have bought 3 laptop fan so far, and all of them seems to have a weak air current flow, and my laptop will still overheat.. Is this a good investment? Let me know.. latez.
That looks like something that would be good for my table. It would be cool so if i spill my drink i don;'t have to worry about lifting my laptop up. I am very clumsy. Don't have to worry to much about spilling drinks and it going into my laptop?
@ck2772 your laptop will be untouched but remember the fan sucks the air up from the bottom and if liquid gets under the fan it could shoot it to the laptop but other than that it shouldnt be that major since its under the laptop, only thing youll have to watch for is the vents to make sure none of the liquid gets into them if this kind of a event happens
Bought this same pad at walmart and it worked perfectly, even with a second screen hooked up to play video while I played games on the main. However, a few days ago it randomly stopped working at times would make a horrid noise. After looking it up on Amazon, I found that this is a pretty common experience. I usually research before I buy anything electronic, but I really needed it in the moment; now I'm out the money if I can't find the receipt. if not, I'll just open it up. Warranty be damned!
waah thx man, its almost june and its really hot, i use my computer (btw, we have exactly the same laptops) for many many hours, but when ever it gets hot, im limited to 3-4 hours befor i have the feeling my computer is going to explode and it would shut off. and yes your right, when it gets how, its very annoying becaus i have to lift my hands when i type... thx for the review, i think ill go buy one next week-end ;)
@123teabag123 first, clean out the fans :) if that is the major problem will it make your laptop go down to about 40-60 C. getting a laptop cooler like in this video will most likely make it stay at 40-60 even when doing stress (like games)
my laptop is at about 45-50 while having small programs running like Firefox etc etc.
but it gets up to 60-85 when playing hardcore games for some mins.
now 60 is very good. all form 40-75 is very good while playing heavy games but above 75 is a major problem
and vacuum cleaners is a great way to clean the fans. but if that isn't enough, try to open up the laptop so that you can see everything inside and see if there is some dust/hairs that can't come out
I have a question though .. I have an hp Pavilion dv-6 1390.. which has a serious overheating problem (Gets up to 55 degrees upon gaming sometimes); and I was planning on getting a targus dual fan cooler ... but I didn't know which would be better ... Targus or Belkin..
You said your friend has a targus cooler ... which do you think can be better in cooling my laptop (it's 15.6").
@XxTwiztdSkaterxX On the other end of the spectrum...do ya think my 10-12ish netbook could fit on the cooling pad? Because my netbook turns into an iron when I have it running hard :O
i got the double fan pad designed for my dell studio xps 16 the fans are located under two of the three ventilation units on the bottom of the laptop i noticed that it cooles the cpu and hard-drive way more efficiently that the single fan model and it has an off/on switch!!! also the fan pads raise the laptop significantly so a usb/etc dock is essential for a keyboard escpecially for gaming when the keys of the laptop are too small and oncomftorable for long gaming sessions. nice vid and also...
Hey mate..I too have the same laptop (Dell Studio XPS 16) when I play NFSMW at a maxed out setting. The game runs for 2 hrs then my comp gets heated up. is this normal for my 1 GB ATI Radeon HD 4670..and also would u recommend this Belkin cooling pad..Kindly reply!! Thanks!
Dude, if it's really that bat of a problem get a new hp g61 at walmart that's what I have... and I run it really hot but u can only fell it on the bottom... I think the place where the CPU and hardrive are heat proof .... So you can't feel it... And when it really stats gettin hot the built in fa das like 10 vents to suck in air..(windows seven is good)
Hi, erm my laptop constantly shuts down, well cuts off in a split second and i dont think its a virus, i think it may be a heat thing. i got a temperature reader thing and my laptop is running at like 72C - 90C so does anyone know if this is why it keeps going offf and should i get one of these if it will help ?
the temprature you are saying is really very high, so get this product or a similar product very fast if you want to save your laptop! or it might die !!!
i got an Asus and i would play wow for hours, then it would just shut off, i thought it was some kind of virus but then i found out it was overheating, so i got this thing at walmart and so far so good, i chose belkin cus i have the speed pad made by them as well an that speed pad is bad ass have had it for years
Hey, I'm interested in this, but I have some doubts.
1. Any usb ports on the pad?
2. Do you feel that the pad can truly support the weight for your laptop. I mean it's made out of plastic so I'm wondering if it will be strong enough in the long run,
When you game does it defenitly work? cause i have a problem now when i game i heard the fan get louder and i lag so im assuming its heat issues.... and also can u use the cooling pad for a long time constantly?? like around 5 - 10 hours strait?
Ty I'm having the same problem and I have to put my laptop ON THE AC VENT.... I think I'll pick this up bc when you use yourlaptop heavily for even an hour, It's worth the cool down time that u spend afterwards.
i also would not recommend this fan unless ur gpu or cpu are in the middle of the computer, you just end up balancing it and eventually the legs break

@XxTwiztdSkaterxX On the other end of the spectrum...do ya think my 10-12ish netbook could fit on the cooling pad? Because my netbook turns into an iron when I have it running hard :O

@Arkodius10 it should be able to since netbooks are smaller than notebooks

i got the double fan pad designed for my dell studio xps 16 the fans are located under two of the three ventilation units on the bottom of the laptop i noticed that it cooles the cpu and hard-drive way more efficiently that the single fan model and it has an off/on switch!!! also the fan pads raise the laptop significantly so a usb/etc dock is essential for a keyboard escpecially for gaming when the keys of the laptop are too small and oncomftorable for long gaming sessions. nice vid and also...

Hey, I'm interested in this, but I have some doubts.
1. Any usb ports on the pad?
2. Do you feel that the pad can truly support the weight for your laptop. I mean it's made out of plastic so I'm wondering if it will be strong enough in the long run,

Ty I'm having the same problem and I have to put my laptop ON THE AC VENT.... I think I'll pick this up bc when you use yourlaptop heavily for even an hour, It's worth the cool down time that u spend afterwards.

Be careful about condensation. You don't want that cool air to turn into water inside your laptop.
