Thanks, many thanks for putting this up. I had the Jimmy Webb LP (the album cover shows him in a sailplane cockpit) in 1974 and I sang this tune with three very fine co-eds that fall. I never heard the 5D version until tonight - 35 years later! Don't forget that Joni Mitchell sang a countermelody on the third verse of the original version.
At first listen (to this album), I was disappointed that Marilyn had only 'one lead vocal', but after a 2nd listen, I simply realized that this is a very good album nonetheless...much better than 'soul & inspiration from '74.
This album was VERY good...but don't knock S&I...I think that just might be one of the underrated ones. It had SEVERAL songs on it that was just GOOD and got overlooked.
@keithcop It was their best album!! But as a kid in the sixth grade when this single was released, I was stunned that they chose this song to be the lead single. "Magic in My Life" should have been the first single--but M and B had already left the group so I guess it never really mattered
This is a great album. lots of sublime J Webb compositions and even Larry Coryell playing some nice jazz rock acoustic on some tracks. They were So Good. Very underrated.
just bought this on vinyl .that canoe singing is mixing in 1 word at the end.

Very nice, but why do I think of a Jimmy Buffet-type song?
