  • I want a new life. How do I recycle my old life?

  • this is a wonderful and informative video. I did no know of this until now. Thanks.

  • so i guess if you work for a year you might have some uranium in the bottom of that bowl where you extract the copper and stuff.. that sounds ... interesting

  • Actually I work for one of these plants in the US and the process is amazing. The treatment to meet customer specifications demands a lot of knowledge and concentration because if you want to reduce costs you have to control temperature and consume constantly... IT'S AWESOME!!!

  • search for jobs careerstarttoday(dot)info a lot of job listings online

  • wow

  • How can they say they recycle 99% of batteries cause I know where there is 4000 of em in the ground tell me he counted those

  • Respond to this video... where at ill buy them

  • Mercury is more dense than lead and neither uranium or mercury is found in a car battery.

  • The workers at these plants are doing a great service for us.

  • what happens to plastic and acid?

  • Watch our recycling video on our channel!

  • mmmm lead fumes

  • China could make a lot of hazardous toys with all that lead.

  • DONT JUMP INTO THE ... Water looking stuff... its not water.. its sulfuric acid! oh and dont drink it

  • While the workers seem to take some precautions with respirators, etc., there's still the fact that all that lead vapor appears to be escaping to open air. Apparently these plants remain a big source of lead pollution.

  • That is not correct, these buildings operate under a negative pressure and all the air is filtered through sophisticated bag houses to capture and purify as much airborne pollutants as possible. I have visited this plant and its truly amazing, everything is recycled including the acid which is recaptured and used for laundry detergent additives and converted to sodium salts, and the plastics too.

  • I am chemist and have worked with some really damned nasty crap (chromium compounds, extremely caustic/acidic/oxidizing substances like Piranha solution etc) but would absolutely hate to work in a place like this. The lead exposure in some of those jobs must be very high, and I'd want at least 1-monthly blood tests to monitor my lead blood levels.

Also how about the guy in that pit of batteries driving the excavator thing? I wonder how he likes breathing acid vapors all day.

  • Very Informative, the only conern i see maybe the lead poisining? Maybe you have more precautions setup.

  • @RecoveryTTA lead isn't as dangerous as people say, wear gloves if you handle it daily. As long as you don't work with it every day, boil it, or eat it, you should be fine.

  • @Andreask93 Metallic lead is not so bad because the body has a harm time absorbing it. On the other hand, lead compounds such as lead salts are much more easily taken into the body and can cause all kinds of problems.

  • @nucleochemist The same thing applies to liquid mercury, right? The pure metal is fairly harmless, but the salts and oxides are harmful. Is that correct?

  • @Andreask93 Yes, but there is an additional danger because mercury metal has a vapor pressure, that is to say that it turns into a vapor (gas) by itself even at room temperature. This provides a easy route into the body via inhalation.

While mercury metal is not very good for you, there are some extremely nasty organo-mercury compounds like dimethylmercury, methylethylmercury, and diethylmercury (and many others). These are some of the most toxic substances known to the human body.

  • I want to start Lead Battery Recycling business.. I would like to start with small volume of ingot making, Please let me know what is the cheap process and how much does it cost.. ?

Kindly give me full details I will be very thankful to you!

  • it would be cool to swim in that stuff, if you were superman

  • Heyy great info video . one question to the experts . how is the plastic material and lead contents are separated in the shredder .

  • @faraz40468 sink to the bottom

  • @faraz40468 by density in water

  • @faraz40468 with a water bath..plastic floats

  • I hate YouTube Ads.

  • I know this guy (Azron) he worked a few years ago as Refinery Manager in RSR in Middletown NY. Good luck Azron!

  • Uh there are a lot of things that float on lead besides Uranium.

  • I have a question about how Lead Acid batteries really work. At first I thought energy was stored in the batteries plates but the more I'm investigating how a battery "really" functions it seems that energy isn't actually stored in the battery there's more of a conditioning going on chemically that allows the plates surfaces to react with the electrolytes to create electricity . Then to recharge it simply reverses the chemicals PH level (or whatever it's called) s the process can be repeated?

  • the only way to reduce this, it's buy only rechargeable batteries...

  • @MRG077 Face palm, Lead Acid is rechargeable

  • @Ham549 I know.

  • I'll bet that place stinks bad!

  • If only we had started recycling 80 years ago, our landfills would be empty and not full of contamination. thanks for the video.

  • Its time to phase out lead acid batteries and switch to lithium ion batteries.

  • ..than what about recycling process? Lead can be recycled and u get the value. But litium is problem.

  • @jackiechan511 - One day but for now Lithium battery production costs are too high and the batteries are sensitive to cold weather. They require heat to function. Not to say they don't have their place in the world just don't expect them to take over. Lead acid batteries are still the work horse and the economically friendly choice.

  • @jackiechan511 careful what you wish for lithium batteries are much more expensive and can only be used once, not to mention that lead has some neurological effects over many years lithium is a drug regulated by the FDA effecting brain function.

  • @drdeathkwp So you're saying that lithium ion batteries cant be recycled?

  • @jackiechan511 of course lithium batteries can be recycled, however its very difficult and dangerous and currently less then 1% of all lithium batteries are recycled.

  • Imagine the amount of lead in there blood, hope none of them want children!!!!

  • @meimcurious

they have mask on their face and good ventilation.

  • And what happens with the acid?

This process is for lead recycling, not acid. Acid is what pollutes the most, ain't it?

  • Acid pollute more then lead? Not a chance.

  • yeah, dont fall in.

  • thanks for the vid! now I can skip this chapter in my exam preparation for tomorrow. hehe..

  • DaManzMoney

u don't relize how much you get for a battery 2c a kilo

  • People don't realize when they take a car to a scrap yard to sell it they can take the Battery, rad, catalatic converter and other stuff off and sell it seperate and make a extra 50 - 100 bucks on top of what u get for the car

  • @DaManzMoney shut up ya ass! i work at one.

  • Liquid lead is amazing

    o.0

  • That place cant be good for your health

  • lol at danbison

  • lol

  • he says below me as in under him on the ground floor

  • -_-

I think you need to take sarcasm 101 again b191191

  • @danbison he says below me....not blow me....

  • @chickenpoper fail.

  • @danbison My ears tell me that he says "Below me..." :P

  • @danbison below me, "blow me is a 60 pound inline casting machine" would not make any sense

  • She said "Gold is the most valuable"? no, Platinum

  • i sense a darwin award :P

  • uranium its the only metal heavier than led thats all

  • Wrong.

Plutonium and Iridium are between the 3 heaviest metals (and also materials...). Lead ist not in the top 3, and I forgot the other one's name...

  • Osmium is the one your looking for :) it's the densest metal on earth iridium is next. :)

  • Yes, exactely, Osmium was the one, thanks.

  • no worries :)

  • lead* led= light emmiting diode :P

  • i know

  • Bismuth is heaver than lead

  • wrong

  • Bismuth Atomic Weight: 208.980

    Lead Atomic Weight = 207.2

Look it up. Bismuth is heavier than lead.

  • is bismuth toxic like lead?

  • noo

  • Bismuth is not toxic. Some people are now using it in shotguns for hunting because it's not toxic like lead. Down side it's more expensive.

  • i heard somewhere its really brittle or something

  • Pure bismuth is brittle but an alloy of mostly bismuth isn't brittle.

  • No, they use steel shot. Bismuth is pretty expensive.

  • Do a google search for "bismuth shot". You will find it.

  • wtf y

  • uranium? iant that radio active?

  • Hydro separation technology. Technology is a buzz world used by corporations to get more customers. It implies their products is better than others. Technology shouldn't be used out of macro contexts. Technology means the ability to use techniques and knowledge. When you talk about devices and parts, you have to call them techniques and devices, not technology.

  • ..and i thought i was cynical!

  • Do you think global corporations are not cynical?

  • is my mechinical pencil lead make form that?

  • No, it actually isn't. It's Graphite ( An Isomer of a Polycarbon compound )

( Or in simpler terms, a different molecular Structure of Charcoal )

  • Cool video.

  • awesome, thanks for helping the planet!

  • yhink about the next generation of ppl (your sons), they could not have a planet where to live, think about it
