dang this is groovy. i thought I hated country (don't hate something til you know it is the lesson here) til I found this stuff. Just funky and radical.
Wow..a disco like version of "Sugarfoot Rag." Now I've seen everything (actually Joe Maphis & Merle Travis did a disco version of "The Irish Washerwoman" on the "Country Guitar thunder" album). Jerry Reed was awesome! He is sorely missed!
Well, if country music radio programming ever finds its creative courage Jerry Reed may well be. Until then it's YouTube and non-commercial radio or alternative to the rescue.
@hunchdrunk I'd certainly agree...but, then again, there are also a lot of guitarists and other musical artists other than Reed who should be far more famous than Elvis. Tommy Emmanuel, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Buddy Guy and the list goes on and on!
Jerry may have been the only person to know the words to this, and the only one to pull off a country rap like this.... well, now we know the words too.
I just found out Jerry died...man I am bummed out! I learned so much listening to him growing up. Georgia on my mind...great guitar lines...AMOS MOSES...so many great guitar tunes.
Rest in Peace Mr Reed and thank you for showing us all better ways to play guitar.
'Rufus' Buddy Greene, of Gaither Homecoming fame on harmonica ... a bonified MONSTER in his own right.

4/4 hi-hat ...bass...Country singers, in the 70's, would do that as a novelty (not seriously though).

This guy should be 10 times more famous than Elvis. Just going video to video...what a talent, what a ride.

Imagine the Tele jams in Heaven now: Jerry Reed, Danny Gatton and Roy Buchanan, and you know they would just love to have Albert Collins sit in

Galbraith4570: Don't forget Chet Atkins, though I've only seen him with a Tele once. In fact, I was a video with Atkins and Reed both using Teles.
