*nod* VNV Nation (VNV) are one of the great artists out there. Much like cruxshadows.. they have a very nice almost at times late 1980's style sound to them. Going into The Retrosic I would agree Industrial, but I have heard it subclassified as TerrorCore. We must remember however that all genres change a bit with time. This includes changes in technology, social issues, etc. Bands like Wumpscut and Front 242, etc. were Industrial as applied to their time. If you measure Industrial simply by harsh vocals you may as well throw Nine Inch Nails in too.

Sometimes it depends on the song. I prefer to call them Goth/Industrial, but really the question is not the definition of Cruxshadows, but the definition of Industrial or the definition of Gothic. There are as many different opinions as there are people in this world. For example, TempGuy believes Industrial only includes Wumpscut, Hocico, Psyclon 9, Amduscia and Wumpscut. However, I would be surprised to meet a Goth who doesn't like CxS, or a rivethead for that matter.

I meant the genre Manchester from about 1988-1993. This was when bands came out like Pop Will Eat Itself, House of Love, Kitchens of Distinction, Trash Can Sinatras, Stone Roses. I guess it was for Manchester what grunge was for Seattle. It was rock with a lot of similarities to music from the Mod genre of the late 60's. However, It gave way to Brit Pop which included Oasis and such. American brit-pop fans tend to confuse the two.

I actually was more interested in Modern Rock and New Wave growing up. I would go to clubs that would incorporate a little Front 242, Wumpscut, and Nitzerebb in their playlists, but up until a few years ago I was still more of a Not-so-modern-rock and New Wave fan. Slowly but surely as New Wave and Modern Rock died I replaced it with Industrial and EBM. If interested, look into my other playlists. I have ska in there too. Older 2-Tone label stuff.

I doubt you're gonna deny that.I just call them industrial because 1.never heard any darkwave before,and 2.yeah,they're not industrial in the TG or Einsturzende sense,but they're not really goth either,so I didn't know what exactly to call them. To me if it's gothy but with heavier dance beats it's a more modern form of industrial. You can thank NIN and Skinny Puppy for that misconception.
