@rippac86, 10' rod, spin cast reel, few hundred yards of 50lb+ braid is good for surf fishing the first, second and third cuts. For long hauls ( kayaked baits ) use a heavy action 8-10' surf rod, open face, several hundred yards of 100lb braid. For shark use a 8' steel leader with 12/0+ circle hooks wrapped in electric tape. You can drop some cash on these rigs, so do your research, before you spend too much :-) Avet, Abu Garcia, Penn, Shimano are a few good brands. You get what you pay for.
btw we have such places in NY, unfortunately never been there (just bought my 4x4) and i've heard they were closed for a while after two guys drown during the high tight...
i caught about 30 whiteing on dead shrimp there last spring break. and about 10 of them were at least a pound and a half and 2 of them were more then 2 pounds.
please upload without the annoying music/noise.

Nice informative video. Any suggestions for a high quality, super sharp fillet knife?
HarlingenCardinals 1 year ago
@HarlingenCardinals, Rampala has some good fillet knives relatively inexpensive. J. Marttini also makes some good knives.
